  • Patent number: 5732602
Abstract: A handle has an inner hub member which engages a shaft and rotates about a longitudinal axis therewith, an outer hub member which is disposed around the inner hub member and is coaxial therewith, and resilient material disposed in a space between the inner and outer hub members. The resilient material effects the transfer of rotational movement between the inner and outer hub members, and under normal operating conditions, the outer hub member is generally coaxial with the inner hub member and rotates in a tangential direction to effect the rotation of the inner hub member and the shaft. Thus, upon the rotation or movement of the outer hub member in a direction other than the tangential direction which results in the outer hub member extending along an axis angled to the longitudinal axis of the inner hub member, the inner hub member maintains its direction along the longitudinal axis by virtue of the resilient material disposed between the inner and outer hub members.

Abstract: A manual control appliance with includes a control lever mounted in a bearing for pivotal movement about a fixed point, converter devices coupled to the lever for converting deflections of the lever with respect to two orthogonal axes into electrical output signals proportional to the deflection of the lever with respect to each of the axes, and a preshaped part having a surface in the form of a spherical section and provided with a plurality of detent grooves which cooperate with a slider at a lower end of the lever. The slider cooperates with the detent grooves in such a manner as to transmit to a user a tactily perceivable sensation each time said lower tip moves across a detent groove in order to provide tactile information about stepped portions of said control lever without affecting operation of said converter means and without limiting pivotal movement of said control lever.

Abstract: This brake comprises a lever (1) articulated onto a pin (2), a soleplate (3) and a toggle joint mechanism (8) connected to the application cable (9); this mechanism (8) includes a connecting rod which is articulated onto the lever (1), the end of the cable (9) being connected to the end of the connecting rod (10) through the use of a balance bar (11) which can be moved translationally in a direction parallel to the cable (9). The mechanism (8) considerably decreases the forces for applying and releasing the brake. On application, the lever (1) is brought into abutment on the soleplate (3) so that the direction of the force (P) in the connecting rod (10), which force is brought about by tensioning the cable (9), passes above the pin (2), which keeps it in the applied position. The locking crank includes an arm attached to the shaft, a handle pivotally mounted to the end of the arm, a fulcrum on the arm, a spring-biased locking pin which engages with openings in a plate on the cabinet, and a lever pivoted on the fulcrum and operated by the handle for causing the locking pin to lock or unlock the rotation of the carrousel in response to movement of the handle from a locking position to a cranking position. The arm has guides for constraining the lever to sit on the fulcrum and for limiting the movement of the lever. The tool box has various drawers and a lid with side slots which slidably and pivotally hinge on a pair of hinge posts on the sides of the cabinet.

Abstract: A chair control mechanism of the type having a seat support member pivotally mounted on a leg mounting member, and a spring loaded adjustment mechanism for controlling the pivotal movement of one member with respect to the other. The adjustment mechanism includes a handle mounted on an adjustment screw for movement therealong to compress or allow extension of the compression spring. A nut is threadedly mounted on the adjustment screw and serves to retain the members, adjustment screw and spring in an assembled configuration during shipping to and assembly of a chair by a chair manufacturer. A hand wheel is provided for attachment to the nut after the control mechanism has been assembled and installed in a chair. The hand wheel has a body of plastics material in which a seat formed which is proportioned to accommodate and adapted to cooperate with the nut such that when the nut is seated therein, rotation of the hand wheel will cause rotation of the nut with respect to the adjustment screw.
