Pads And Covers Patents (Class 74/563)
  • Patent number: 4899614
Abstract: To facilitate the assembly work of a pedal pad (e.g. accelerator pad) to a pedal arm and further to increase the strength of the pedal arm, the pedal pad comprises an arm end holding portion formed integral with the pedal base plate for holding an end of the pedal arm; and an arm clasping portion composed of a U-shaped arm clasping base portion formed integral with the base plate for clasping the pedal arm and a bow-shaped arm securing cover portion for covering the arm clasping base portion to further secure the pedal arm, in cooperation with the U-shaped arm clasping base portion, into hooking engagement with said arm clasping base portion. The arm securing cover portion can be formed integral with or separate from the pedal base plate.

  • Patent number: 4855707
Abstract: An adjustable control apparatus for a potentiometer is provided. The control apparatus comprises a geared sheath which is engageable with the potentiometer of an electronic apparatus. The geared sheath is provided with a response gear nonrotatably mountable thereto. The control apparatus further comprises a control platform having a drive gear rigidly connected thereto. The drive gear is engageable with the response gear of the geared sheath, such that pivoting movement of the drive gear causes a rotational movement of the geared sheath. A foot platform is adjustably but rigidly mounted to the control platform such that pivoting movement of the foot platform causes a corresponding pivoting movement of the control platform which is transmitted to the geared sheath through the drive and response gears.

  • Patent number: 4673054
Abstract: A safety system for a vehicle having foot operated hydraulic controls consisting in one embodiment of a safety shield which activates a parking brake so that when the shield is in a lowered position the parking brake is set and the shield covers the hydraulic controls of the vehicle as well as being a foot rest, and when the shield is in upright position, the parking brake is released and access is obtained to the hydraulic controls; and in another embodiment of a safety bar which activates a locking lever which prevents operation of the foot controls when the safety bar is raised and permits operation of the foot controls when the safety bar is lowered.

  • Patent number: 4599914
Abstract: A device adheres between the sole of a bicyclist's foot and a conventional bicycle pedal to effect substantially instantaneous adherence and release therebetween without use of manual manipulation, special shoes, tools, special bicycle parts or the like. A first mating portion is removably attached to a conventional bicycle pedal utilizing fabric type adherence panels of hooks and loops of the type presently commercially available under the trademark VELCRO. A second mating portion is similarly removably attached to the sole of a conventional bicyclist's shoe. Mating panels on the top of the bicycle pedal on bottom or sole of the bicyclist's foot or shoe then create the adherence. The adherence panels are used both for attachment of the first and second mating portions to the pedal and shoe respectively, and also for creating the adherence between the bicyclist's foot and bicycle pedal.

  • Patent number: 4480496
Abstract: A jacket securable to the accelerator foot pedal of a truck cab has a slotted plate on the top thereof. A threaded rod having one end pivotably carried by the fire wall of the cab is receivable within the slot. A nut is threadedly received on the free end of the rod and an abutment member is carried by the rod intermediate the nut and the pivoted end. When the rod is positioned within the slot the abutment member may be disposed against the face of the plate remote from the fire wall, and when so disposed rotation of the nut will control depression of the pedal and thus the idle speed of the engine of the truck so that the idle speed may be increased when the truck is stationary in extreme temperature environments.

  • Patent number: 4176562
Abstract: An anti-skid protective cap for actuating pedals, such as brake pedals and the like, of a motor vehicle with a single downwardly projecting deflecting surface constructed so as to provide good sliding characteristics. This deflecting surface accomodates the sliding of the operator's shoe sole edge therealong during a pedal change. The deflecting surface is provided on the side of the protective cap facing a gas pedal, whereby the operator's shoe is prevented from getting stuck under the actuating pedal. The shoe-engaging portion of the cap may be artificially aged by applying a coating of an aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite, or it may be provided with a coating of an elastic lacquer.
