  • Patent number: 6164812
Abstract: The electric food processor has a housing in which there is disposed an electric motor with a motor shaft. The motor shaft, via a gear mechanism, drives three or more concentric output drives at different rotational speeds. The common axis of rotation of the output drives is spaced a distance from the motor shaft. Working tools are selectively coupled to the output drives and the working tools rotate in a working container which is placed on the housing. In order to expand the possible uses of the food processor, the fastest output drive rotates at a speed that is suitable for a mixing tool, and the gear mechanism has at least two sets of input gear teeth that are rotatably mounted independently of each other, so that the fastest output drive can be driven out of direct engagement with the slower output drives.

  • Patent number: 5724867
Abstract: A gear-based airboat transmission is provided for driving a pair of coaxial, counter-rotating propellers. A drive shaft couplable to an engine crank shaft extends rearward into the transmission case, and a pair of coaxial hollow driven shafts extend rearward out of the transmission case, to which are attachable a pair of propellers. A first gear train, containing an even number of gears, reverses the rotational direction of the engine; a second gear train, containing an odd number of gears, retains the rotational direction of the engine. Improved stability characteristics are imparted by supporting the drive shaft at two points within the case and also by positioning the drive and the driven shafts in vertical alignment. The adaptability of the gear-based transmission to being coupled with an automobile engine confers improved noise and efficiency characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4795382
Abstract: A marine drive unit (1) includes a lower gear case (8) forming a torpedo housing (9). A pair of coaxial propeller shafts (21, 25) are rotatably mounted in the housing and carry a pair of propellers (10, 11) thereon. The propeller shafts are driven by a pair of opposed driving gears (16, 24) suitably connected through a generally vertical main drive shaft (14) to a marine engine (4) and mounted on the horizontal drive axis (17). A pair of thrust bearings (44, 45) adapted to carry forward thrust loads are respectively disposed adjacent the facing portions of the opposed driving gears, with the pair being separated by a spacer (46) tightly confined therebetween. The spacer is locked against rotation but is freely floatable in an axial direction, and transfers the forward thrust load from one bearing to the other, so that the load is ultimately transferred from the outer propeller shaft (25) to the inner central shaft (21).

  • Patent number: 4289042
Abstract: Two eccentric weights of a vibrator are mounted, respectively, on two coaxial shafts, one of which is a hollow shaft mounted on the other shaft. The two shafts can be connected for rotation in unison, and can be separated for relative rotation to alter the angular relationship between the weights. Mechanism is provided to alter the angular relationship between the weights while both shafts continue to rotate. The hollow shaft and the other shaft are connected, respectively, to one end of two beveled gear trains which can rotate as a unit about the axis of the shafts. By changing the angular relationship between the gears at the other end of the gear trains, the angular relationship between the eccentric weights, and hence the stroke of the vibrator, can be changed.

  • Patent number: 4236416
Abstract: A power transmission for engines, motors, pumps and the like comprises a power shaft mounted to rotate about a fixed axis, an eccentric in the form of a tapered bar having arcuate ends secured on the power shaft to turn therewith, a power transmission ring having a circular internal bearing surface contacting the arcuate ends of the eccentric, a plurality of cranks connected to the power transmission ring by crankpins, each crank having a crankshaft journaled to turn about a fixed axis which is parallel to the power shaft. Power may be applied to any of the crankshafts by a motor coupled to the crankshaft or power may be applied to any crankpin by a pitman connecting the piston of an internal combustion engine or fluid motor to the crankpin. In either case, the power applied imparts non-rotary, planetary motion to the power transmission ring to turn the eccentric about the axis of the power shaft, thereby rotating the power shaft at the same speed at which each of the cranks is rotated but with more torque.

  • Patent number: 4208923
Abstract: Drive mechanism for a four-wheel-drive tractor, comprising a pair of input shafts in double tube construction with one fitted to nest in the other, main gearing shaft assembly, differential gearing, front-wheel-drive-shaft assembly, gearing wheels provided in both frontal and rear portions of the front-wheel-drive-shaft assembly, a power-take-off shaft and a drive shaft-assembly. Driving power taken out from the gearing wheel provided in front portion of the front-wheel-drive-shaft assembly is transmitted to front wheels via a transmission shaft with a mating gear, disposed at an underbelly portion of the tractor.
