  • Patent number: 6164812
Abstract: The electric food processor has a housing in which there is disposed an electric motor with a motor shaft. The motor shaft, via a gear mechanism, drives three or more concentric output drives at different rotational speeds. The common axis of rotation of the output drives is spaced a distance from the motor shaft. Working tools are selectively coupled to the output drives and the working tools rotate in a working container which is placed on the housing. In order to expand the possible uses of the food processor, the fastest output drive rotates at a speed that is suitable for a mixing tool, and the gear mechanism has at least two sets of input gear teeth that are rotatably mounted independently of each other, so that the fastest output drive can be driven out of direct engagement with the slower output drives.

  • Patent number: 5553509
Abstract: A three degree-of-freedom robotic manipulator is constructed from three rotary drives. The rotary drive consists of a relatively small diameter cylindrical driving member coupled to a larger diameter cylindrical driven member. The driven member of a second rotary drive is mounted perpendicularly to the driven member of a first drive. The driven member of a third drive is mounted to the periphery of the driven member of the second drive with its axis of rotation parallel to the driven member of the second drive. The driving member of the third drive is located with its axis of rotation coincident with the axis of rotation of the driven member of the second drive. Motors powering the second and third driving members are mounted to the driven member of the first drive roughly centered over its axis of rotation. An extension arm for mounting the end effector is fixed to the driven member of the third drive. This arrangement reduces the number of required components and minimizes motor movement to reduce inertia.

  • Patent number: 5452626
Abstract: Process and device are provided for the automatic adjustment of the rotational speed ratios among the operating elements of a draw frame. The invention utilizes a drive for a draw frame which is less expensive and at the same time achieves a higher degree of automation and precision for the adjustment of the rotational speed ratios between the operating elements. The total required power to be supplied to the operating elements of a draw frame is divided up between a main motor and several separate motors. The distribution of the required power capacity is such that the main motor delivers a constant required power which represents the major part of the total required power. All the separate motors which deliver selectively variable required power, together furnish the lesser share of the total required power. According to the device, the mechanical gear coupling of all operating elements among each other is at the same time coupled to individual drives for all operating elements.

  • Patent number: 5108043
Abstract: A twin engine helicopter has an accessory drive system that will operate with only one engine while the other engine is off. The system also allows starting of the second engine without turning the first engine off. An input clutch for the first engine will rotate an inner drive member when it is being driven by the first engine. An accessory drive member mounts to the inner drive member. A collector gear mounts in engagement with the blade drive train and has a drive member. A movable clutch shaft has one end that engages the inner drive member of the input clutch and another end which will engage the drive member of the collector gear. An actuator will move the clutch shaft out of engagement with the drive member of the collector gear to disengage the drive engine from the blade drive train. A synchronizing clutch mounts in engagement with the clutch shaft for causing the clutch shaft to rotate with the collector gear if the second engine is started and operated at a speed faster than the first engine.

  • Patent number: 4335795
Abstract: In a vehicle, driving controls are utilized for control of throttle, brakes, and equipment which control a difference in speed between the drive wheels or track units of the vehicle. The driving controls comprise two foot pedals which can be actuated individually, and a differential unit which can be controlled by these. Via two means from the differential unit, a sum signal and a difference signal, respectively, is obtained from the actuation situation of the foot pedals. The acceleration and braking force is controlled with the sum signal, and the difference in speed between the drive means of the vehicle is determined by the difference signal.

  • Patent number: 4311472
Abstract: Two separately operable turbines are regularly connected individually to two propellers, via reducing gears in each instance, whereby an intermediate shaft is included in each such power train. These intermediate shafts are interconnected via an interconnecting transmission gear with clutches at either end, so that this transmission is completely removed when both turbines drive the propellers while either turbine can drive both propellers when the clutches are operated. Details of the mounting and of the gears and their configuration are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4248538
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for effectively moving and stirring grain in a storage bin. The apparatus comprises a sweep arm, including an auger support shaft and an independently rotatable drive member, that extends between and is supported on a track along the bin sidewall and a pivotal support at the bin center. As the drive member is rotated, a drive wheel thereon moves over the bin track, causing the sweep arm to travel around the bin. The support shaft is rotatable independently of the drive member and extends from the central frame to a location adjacent the bin track. A plurality of spaced stirring augers depend from the laterally extending support shaft, and all except the outermost one are adapted for movement therealong. Rotation of the support shaft in either direction will cause corresponding movement of the movable stirring augers along the sweep arm. The outer auger remains near the outer wall of the bin.

  • Patent number: 4203375
Abstract: In a vehicle having separate front and rear transmissions, a system for slaving one of the transmissions to the other so that the slave transmission will operate in the same drive range as that existing in the master transmission. Low-level binary coded signals are separately generated by each transmission to indicate the existing drive ranges of the two transmissions. The signals are sent to a control unit where they are examined and used to shift the slave transmission up or down as necessary, so that it keeps in step with the drive range in which the master transmission is operating. A unique binary code is used in the sending of drive-range signals to the control unit to prevent the control unit from shifting the slave transmission in response to errors in the signals which may occur in the event of faults in the cables through which the signals are sent.

Abstract: A roll drive for a machine of the type used in connection with the manufacture of paper. The roll which is to be driven has an end situated at a plane which is normal to the roll axis, and at the latter plane there is a supporting structure which supports the roll for rotation about its axis. Closely adjacent to this plane is a planetary gear transmission having an output and an input. The latter output is connected by way of a suitable transmission structure to the end of the roll for driving the latter with the output of the planetary gear transmission, while a rotary drive is connected to the input of the planetary gear transmission for driving the roll through the latter transmission and structure connected between the planetary gear transmission and the end of the roll.
