  • Patent number: 6106426
Abstract: A transmission for a high-output two-shaft extruder, comprising a speed-reduction gear (1) and a distribution gear (2). The distribution gear has one take-off shaft (4) driven directly by the speed-reduction gear and another take-off shaft (5) driven by the first take-off shaft in conjunction with two distributor shafts (11 & 12), one on each side. The speed-reduction gear is a planetary gear, its sun wheel (21) driven by a main motor and its ring (27) by a superimposition motor, and its planetary bearing (25) coupled to the distribution gear's first take-off shaft. The main motor operates at a constant speed and is designed to handle most of the total power demand. The superimposition motor is regulable or discontinuously variable in speed and is designed to handle a fraction of the total power demand.

  • Patent number: 6028384
Abstract: The present invention is a new type of an electromechanical actuator that combines two rotary outputs from a solitary electrical input into a single molded housing. The actuator comprises an input assembly responsive to an external electrical control source. Preferably, the control source provides a control signal for each valve door to be controlled. The actuator also comprises a first geartrain assembly responsive to the input control assembly and a second geartrain assembly responsive to the input control assembly. The first geartrain assembly includes a first motor responsive to the input control assembly. A first output gear is operably connected to the first motor and a first rotatable output coupler is connected to the first output gear. The second geartrain assembly includes a second motor responsive to the input control assembly. A second output gear is connected to the second motor and a second rotatable output coupler is connected to the second output gear.

  • Patent number: 5683324
Abstract: The toroidal continuous variable transmission for four-wheel drive automobiles distributes a greater torque to the rear wheels than to the front wheels. The torque of the first driven gear is distributed 50% each to the first output shaft and the second output shaft. The torque of the second driven gear is transmitted 100% to the second output shaft. Hence, when the front wheels are connected to the first output shaft and the rear wheels to the second output shaft, the ratio between torques distributed to the front and rear wheels is about 1:3. In the event that only the front wheels should race reducing the transmitted torque, the torque transferred to the second side gear that is not racing also decreases. The rear wheels, however, are supplied with a torque from the second driven gear and therefore can secure at least 50% of the input shaft torque.

  • Patent number: 5452626
Abstract: Process and device are provided for the automatic adjustment of the rotational speed ratios among the operating elements of a draw frame. The invention utilizes a drive for a draw frame which is less expensive and at the same time achieves a higher degree of automation and precision for the adjustment of the rotational speed ratios between the operating elements. The total required power to be supplied to the operating elements of a draw frame is divided up between a main motor and several separate motors. The distribution of the required power capacity is such that the main motor delivers a constant required power which represents the major part of the total required power. All the separate motors which deliver selectively variable required power, together furnish the lesser share of the total required power. According to the device, the mechanical gear coupling of all operating elements among each other is at the same time coupled to individual drives for all operating elements.

  • Patent number: 5355742
Abstract: A device for avoiding gear flank backlash or chattering of first and second gear trains. Each of the gear trains include a plurality of mutually meshing gear wheels. The first gear train has a first initial wheel and a first end wheel. The first initial wheel is driven. The second gear train has a second initial wheel and a second end wheel. The second end wheel is driven. The first and second initial wheels of the first and second gear trains are non-rotatably connected to one another. A tensioning device is connected between the first and second end wheels and it produces a torque in a preferred rotational direction of the gear wheels of the first gear train. The torque acts between the first initial wheel and the first end wheel and ensures a definite flank alignment of the gear wheels during the operation of the first gear train.

  • Patent number: 5344230
Abstract: A mixer or compounder with an elongate barrel having a processing chamber of the configuration of two or more intersecting cylinders receives material at one end and discharges it at the other. Parallel co-rotating mixer shafts extend axially in the chamber and have co-wiping, angularly oriented, mixing members on each shaft, which also wipe the chamber walls. Multiple rotary hydraulic motors, driven synchronously in parallel by the same hydraulic pump system, drive intermediate shafts parallel with the barrel shafts, and a gear driving each mixer shaft is driven by gear mechanisms on the intermediate shafts so that each mixer shaft is driven in the same direction of rotation by both hydraulic motors and imparts an increased equal torque to the mixer shafts.

  • Patent number: 5018225
Abstract: The apparatus for preventing and healing bedsores in long-term inpatients comprises a bed which is supported by four elements arranged in pairs at the longitudinal sides of the bed. Each element is constituted by a tubular upright fixed to the bed frame, inside which a column is telescopingly accommodated. A roller is rotatably supported at the top of both columns arranged on each longitudinal side of the bed. A piece of fabric closed in a loop is wound around the two rollers. The fabric is moved with respect to the bed by lifting and lowering the columns, whereas the fabric can be caused to slide transversely with respect to the bed by actuating the rollers. Therefore, the patient is first lifted off the bed on which he is laying and is then turned in the required position by virtue of the lifting and sliding motion of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 4899620
Abstract: Two worms of a worm extruder are connected to drive shafts of different lengths journaled in a transmission housing. For driving one of the worms, a first gear is keyed to the longer drive shaft and is driven by the motor gear and the electric motor. The second worm is driven by a further shaft, one end of which has a gear meshing with the second gear keyed to the short drive shaft so that the gear of this further shaft and the gears of the two drive shafts lie in a common plane. The further shaft is driven by a gear meshing with the motor shaft or by a separate motor. With this apparatus torque distribution is improved and the number of gears and components of the transmission is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4733737
Abstract: This invention comprises a driveable, steerable platform for industrial, domestic, entertainment and related uses. A frame member travels on a plurality of wheels which can be turned 360.degree. to steer the platform in a desired direction. • Patent number: 4726256
Abstract: A transmission/transaxle assembly for vehicles such as lawn and garden tractors which includes a housing, a dual input, a constant mesh planetary gear assembly, differential gear, axle, and output gear which transfer the planetary gear output to the differential gear and axle. The assembly reduces the rotational speed of two power inputs to a single, lower speed output and allows clutchless, infinitely variable forward, neutral and reverse output speeds by varying the rotational speed of at least one of the inputs with respect to the other. The assembly is compact and provides efficient lubrication through emersion of portions of the planetary gear assembly which continuously rotate in an oil compartment. The axes of the input shafts are arranged transverse to the axis of the output axles such that the assembly will easily accommodate vertical drive shaft engines in tractors or mowers.
