  • Patent number: 7290458
Abstract: A bicycle derailleur comprises a base member, a movable member for supporting a chain guide, a first link member pivotably coupled to the base member and to the movable member through respective first and second link pins, a second link member pivotably coupled to the base member and to the movable member through respective third and fourth link pins, and a motor having a drive shaft that defines a drive shaft vector. The first through fourth link pins define edges of a phantom space, wherein straight continuous phantom lines connecting ends of the first through fourth link pins in a non-crossing manner define remaining edges of the phantom space. At least a part of the primary motor housing is disposed in the phantom space, and the drive shaft vector points away from a plane containing the second and fourth link pins.

  • Publication number: 20030089186
Abstract: The invention relates to a harmonic drive (12) which can be provided with overload protection that is easy to influence constructionally and a free-wheeling characteristic. To this end, the spokes (21) of the internal geared wheel (15) are specifically deformable depending on the torque or the direction of rotation. The spoke shafts (22) are divided crosswise to the drive axis (24) or in a radial direction in relation thereto. This division (45) is bridged over flexibly in the peripheral direction of the internal geared wheel so that the effective radial length of the spoke may be reduced in the presence of the appropriate bending stress by buckling the shaft, in order to then eliminate the local toothing contact between the internal geared wheel edges (13) and the outer support ring (11) in the extension of the spoke.

  • Patent number: 5209961
Abstract: A toothed belt of the present invention comprises a back surface section and tooth sections that are made of an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer (NBR) with a hydrogenation rate of 90% or more; a tooth cloth that covers the surface of the tooth sections and tooth lands, the tooth cloth being made of an industrial nylon raw fiber with a viscosity relative to sulfuric acid of 2.45 to 2.53, a tensile strength of 5 g/denier or more, and a fineness of single fibers of 5 denier or less and being treated with resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) liquid in which resorcinol-formaldehyde resin is mixed with a hydrogenated NBR as a latex component; and core fibers with a core diameter of 0.63 to 0.85 mm, the core fibers being made of twisted bundles of glass fibers of high strength.

  • Patent number: 4092873
Abstract: In the apparatus for creating a swinging motion, one ends of two opposed sides of a flexible link are secured to a stationary member and the opposite ends of the sides are connected to a driven shaft. A cam member is slidably mounted on a drive shaft and arranged between the two sides so as to continuously engage them when the cam member is rotated by the drive shaft. The cam has gradually varying configuration and when it is shifted along the drive shaft, the swinging angle is varied. By suitably constructing the cam member it is possible to stop the swinging motion and reverse the phase thereof.

  • Patent number: 4065978
Abstract: A synchronized drive and cable handling system is disclosed for a rotational element, such as a rotational gantry of a tomographic scanning machine, upon which element are carried load devices to which a medium, such as oil or electricity, is required to be supplied through the cables. A pair of spaced-apart sets of idler pulleys are disposed to either side of the rotational element with a cable being wound about the respective pulley sets to form an elongated loop, one end of each respective cable being attached to a load device which is disposed on the rotational element. One pulley set of each pair of sets is disposed about a translatable axis, the position of which is controlled by a lead screw drive to vary the distance between the pair of pulley sets and to thus vary the amount of cable which is played-out and taken-in therefrom.

  • Patent number: 3993302
Abstract: Sheets are fed down an inclined feedboard to a transfer cylinder of a printing press. Adjacent the delivery end of the feedboard there are a plurality of pairs of feed rolls to accelerate the sheets toward the transfer cylinder and a plurality of front guide members to preregister the front edge of the sheet. The pairs of feed rolls each include a driven roll that oscillates through an arc in timed relation with the transfer cylinder. The feed roll drive mechanism includes pairs of flexible members wrapped in opposite directions around and secured to the feed roll drive shaft on which the driven feed rolls are mounted. In one embodiment one of the flexible members is connected to a lever mechanism and the other flexible member is connected to the press housing through a spring member. In another embodiment both flexible members are connected to the lever member with a spring member on the lever member maintaining a tension on both flexible members.

  • Patent number: 3950031
Abstract: A trim chain take-up sprocket assembly for a mining machine or the like. The sprocket assembly comprises a pair of opposed and axially aligned spindles constituting mirror images of each other, each spindle having a hub rotatively mounted thereon on suitable bearing means. Each hub has at its outboard end a plurality of sprocket teeth and at its inboard end an annular flange. The hub flanges lie in abutting relationship at the longitudinal center of the sprocket assembly and are detachably joined together. Each spindle at its outboard end has a hydraulically actuable piston-cylinder arrangement adapted to engage an abutment surface on the mining machine whereby the entire sprocket assembly may be shifted longitudinally of the mining machine to take up slack or impart slack to the one or more trim chains engaged by the sprocket assembly. Washer-like spacer means are removably affixable to the pistons of the sprocket assembly to retain the assembly in adjusted position.
