The first and second sections being flat and in a common plane, and the intermediate section formed into a semi-circular loop with a center portion of the loop removed. The remaining portions of the semi-circular loop provide a pair of guide lugs to guide a round file. The first and second sections are adapted to rest on the depth gauge and cutter of a cutting link in a saw chain with the guide lugs straddling the chain and aligned with the gullet of a cutting link to guide the file in a desired orientation against the cutting edge of the cutting link.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1975Date of Patent: May 17, 1977Assignee: Omark Industries, Inc.Inventor: Kay Silvon

Patent number: 4010661Abstract: A hand-held guide for use in combination with a file for sharpening chain saw cutting teeth, the guide holding said file in axial compression to permit mounting of said file at the axial extremes thereof and to facilitate rotation of said file relative said guide during use. A portion of said guide is designed, when said file is axially compressed in said guide, to abut the cylindrical wall of said file throughout a substantial portion of the file's length, and this same portion is formed as a guide designed to accurately locate the file relative a chain saw cutting tooth, and to provide a gage for determining the proper height of the depth gage portion of chain saw teeth.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1975Date of Patent: March 8, 1977Assignee: Fletcher Engineering, Inc.Inventor: J. Lawrence Fletcher

Patent number: 3942255Abstract: A filing guide for a chain saw which defines a longitudinal slot therethrough for the chain and at least one transverse slot is defined through the guide and channel for a file to be used on the teeth. Legs of the guide defining the chain channel are unequal in length so that pressure exerted by the thumb or fingers will clamp the guide laterally to the saw bar while downward hand pressure on the teeth hold the teeth firmly in the bar guide.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1974Date of Patent: March 9, 1976Inventor: Andrew G.
