Abstract: A fixed abrasive sawing wire is presented that comprises a core (310) and an outer sheath layer (320) that is softer than the core. In the sheath abrasive particles are embedded that are held by a binding layer. The bond between core and sheath is enhanced by making it rough. The arithmetical mean deviating roughness must at least be higher than 0.50 micron. Particularly preferred is when interlocking between the core and the sheath is introduced. Such interface roughness can be obtained by subjecting the wire to sufficient cold forming by wire drawing. Interlocking will occur at even higher degrees of cold forming. The binding layer can be a metallic binding layer or an organic binding layer.
Abstract: A power transmission system including a component having a surface and a plurality of micro-defects is provided. The surface has a distribution of asperities has a second resonance frequency distribution that is substantially outside of the resonance frequency distribution.

Abstract: An ergonomic handle for a hand-held tool, e.g., a chain saw sharpening file, is sized and shaped for cooperative engagement with the hand of a user and comprises an oblong, contoured body having a distal portion and a bulbous proximal portion integral therewith. A tool is received into a central opening that extends along the longitudinal axis of the oblong body.
Abstract: It is to provide a saw chain sharpener such that while a saw chain is clamped at both ends by a holding plate, which is supported forward of a handy type electric motor, so as to stabilize its sharpening posture, a grinding tool such as a round rod-shaped grinding tool or a round rod-shaped grindstone, which is attached to an end of the electric motor, is rotated at a high speed so as to sharpen, at a side thereof, the saw chain efficiently. A support member is projected forward from a sharpener body which is formed such that a round shaft-shaped grinding tool for grinding is attached to an end of a handy type electric motor.
Abstract: A rotating blade for a cutting machine. The blade defines an arbor hole for an arbor typically having at least three sides. The preferred arbor hole includes first and second sides each of which conform to adjacent sides of the arbor, a short side joining the first and second sides, a third side connected to the first side, and a fourth side connecting the third side to the second side.
Abstract: An apparatus for leveling and strengthening a rim of a saw blade is disclosed which includes a rotatable support for holding a saw blade, a first arm with a contact bearing for contacting a first face of a saw blade mounted in the support, and a second arm with a contact bearing for contacting the opposite face of the saw blade. The device also includes means for positioning the first and second contact bearings with respect to the saw blade support. In one embodiment the device the means for positioning includes a lateral adjustment mechanism attached to the first and second arms which varies the lateral spacing with respect to one another of the ends of the arms. A method for leveling and strengthening a rim of a saw blade is also disclosed.
Abstract: A device for planishing a band saw blades or the like, includes elements for continuously driving the blade, elements for detecting deformations of the blade and planishing elements. The detecting elements consist of position sensors integral with a table positioned underneath the blade, the sensors being uniformly spaced on a line transverse to the forward moving direction of the blade, and the planishing elements consist of hammers co-operating with an anvil positioned underneath the blade, such that, when a sensor detects a deformation of the surface of the blade body, the hammer corresponding to the sensor is actuated to even out the deformation.
Abstract: An improved chop saw may include a base assembly, a blade assembly including a blade having a center and a motor for driving the blade, an arm pivotally attached to the base assembly and carrying the blade assembly, the blade assembly being movable between a lower position for engaging and cutting a workpiece disposed on the base, and an upper position not engaging the workpiece. The chop saw further includes a vise for holding the workpiece in place, the vise including a vise screw, a latch support supporting the vise screw, and a vise jaw disposed at the end of the vise screw. Preferably, the maximum distance between the vise jaw and the latch support is about equal or shorter than the distance between the blade center and the latch support, when the blade assembly is at the lower position. Further the chop saw includes a substantially horizontal handle connected to the blade assembly.

Abstract: A lightweight, versatile device is provided that can change from a hand held device to a bench top device that reshapes the broken end of a reciprocating saw blade and punches the necessary hole in said blade, thus allowing the blade to be reused.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a tungsten carbide tipped circular saw blade (S) The method and blade are characterised by pressing a rib pattern (R) into the body of the blade (S). The rib pattern strengthens the blade body and avoids warping, particularly in thin blades, e.g. less than 1 mm thick.
Abstract: In a complex tool to be installed on a machine tool capable of turning machining and milling machining, a main body 21a is provided, inserts for turning machining 22, 23, 26 are installed on the main body, and inserts for milling machining 22, 25 and inserts for drilling machining 22, 25 are installed on the main body, so that turning machining and drilling/milling machining can be executed by the inserts installed on the main body without tool exchange. Turning machining and drilling/milling machining can be executed without tool exchange, and effective machining is possible, saving time and labor for tool exchange.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing supply stock for saw blades or saw belts with a carrier part and a cutting part made from different materials being metallically bonded to one another by means of welding, whereupon the thickness of the bi-metal or tri-metal bond is adjusted or set and supply stock is formed.
Abstract: A circular saw blade straightening and tensioning machine has a set of straightening and tensioning rollers on both sides of a saw blade. The rollers are mounted on parallel shafts. Each shaft has a hub at its end, comprising a center portion horizontally eccentric with respect to the center line of the shaft, and a pair of side portions disposed on opposite sides of the center portion. Each of the side portions is horizontally eccentric with respect to the shaft center line, but in a direction opposite to that of the center portion. A roller is rotatably mounted on each of the center and side portions of the hubs. An actuator rotates each of the upper and lower shafts selectively ninety degrees in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Rotation of the shafts selectively force a center roller against one surface of the saw blade while simultaneously forcing the side rollers against the other surface of the saw blade, thereby to level deformations in the blade.
