  • Patent number: 10790646
Abstract: A shotgun stick for use with grounding devices is provided. An example shotgun stick includes a housing and a drive shaft supported within the housing. The shotgun stick further includes a clamp stick head attached to the housing at a first end and operably connected to a first end of the drive shaft such that rotation of the drive shaft actuates the clamp stick head. The shotgun stick also includes a ratchet locking module that selectively limits rotation of the drive shaft via engagement between a side pin and a ratchet gear of the ratchet locking module. The clamp stick head includes an exterior housing, a head sleeve that defines an opening configured to receive a tool attachment secured thereto, and a slotted inner sleeve positioned between the exterior housing and the head sleeve that prevents rotation of a tool attachment received by the head sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9248555
Abstract: The locking V hinge tool of this invention comprises three or more pieces. The first two pieces are fundamentally identical and reversed, comprised of three main sections in optional order of, a jaw end, a common axle, and a arc-like cam, assembled together and rotate through the common axle, allowing the jaw ends to open and close. A third pin holding piece holds a pin that rides in and moves, the criss-crossing arc-like slots in the other pieces, at or near an angle aimed at the corners of a diamond like opening where the two arc-like slots intersect. Any external force exerted on the jaw ends, attempt to force the pin in the arc-like slots to rise to an upright position but are blocked by the walls.

  • Patent number: 7938044
Abstract: A driver including a handle, lever, swivel cap, shaft, and a tip mechanically connected to the lever configured to engage a screw. Engaging the lever causes the tip to either compress or expand so as to lock the screw to the driver. According to one exemplary embodiment, the cap can be translated releasing the lever, thereby releasing the screw from the tip. According to one embodiment, the cap is a swivel cap allowing for jeweler style use. Advantages of the present system and method, according to various embodiments, include a tip compressing a feature that is within an outer diameter of the screw allowing a driver, or a portion thereof, to have a maximum diameter equal to or smaller than the maximum diameter of a screw.

  • Patent number: 7878092
Abstract: A grasping tool for obtaining a firm grasp on a nut or other fastener structure that may be deformed in size or shape by time and damage. The tool includes a series of elongated fingers arranged radially in a group and mounted for longitudinal movement in a sleeve. A nut or other fastener to be removed is placed between ends of the fingers extending from the sleeve. As the sleeve is moved toward the nut or other fastener the wall of the sleeve pushes the ends of the fingers inward, to grasp firmly the nut or other fastener to be removed. Various structures and methods may be used to move the sleeve over the fingers and to rotate the grasping tool once attached firmly to the nut or other structure to remove the nut or other structure.

  • Patent number: 7246540
Abstract: Three congruent prongs (16A, 16B, 16C) mounted on a shaft tube (12), converges simultaneously when an operating sleeve (14) moves forward. This action, along with their notches and shape provides a firm grip for holding and starting nuts and bolts. These prongs, made out of 304 grade stailess steel bands, provide good spring-like flexibility and rigidity. The concave sides of the prongs mate with the outside surface of the shaft tube (12) every time the operating sleeve (14) is moved forward. These physical features provide consistent alignment of the prongs every time the tool is used. With rubber sealant (16D) coated on the inside surface of the prongs, the nut and bolt starter gives a firm grip to hold and start a wide variety of shapes and sizes of screws, nuts and bolts. Additional uses of this tool are done with the prop rod (20) supplementing the prongs.

  • Patent number: 7219581
Abstract: An adjustment tool, having a body with a bore extending between a first end and a second end. A shaft is positioned within the bore having a plurality of outward spreading spring fingers coupled to a tool end. A spring biases the shaft towards the second end of the body. A collet coupled to a first end of the body has an inner surface which restricts the spring fingers to a closed position as movement of the shaft towards the second end of the body retracts the spring fingers into the collet. A bubble ring may be coupled to the body. Graduated indicia associated with the bubble ring indicates rotation of the tool for entry of precise rotational adjustments.

  • Patent number: 5740704
Abstract: A ratchet wrench (10) includes a unitary socket assembly (20) having a collet (26) and an adjustable fastener engaging socket (24) which may be positioned over a conventional fastener and which may then be decreased in diameter to effect a gripping attachment of a fastener. The socket assembly (20) includes a stud (28) that is releasably engageable with the ratchet wrench (10). A locking lever (80, 80A) is attached to the ratchet wrench (10) and is usable both to decrease the diameter of the socket (24) and to releasably lock the socket in attachment with the fastener. The locking lever (80, 80A) may employ ratchet and pawl members (400, 402). If desired, the ratchet wrench (10) may instead be pneumatically activatable. Further, the wrench (10) also includes a camming means for reducing the diameter of the adjustable fastener engaging socket (24) formed on the inside of the leading edge of the collet (26), and on the outside edge of the socket.
