Cammed Into Socket By Axial Nut Or Screw Patents (Class 81/113)
  • Patent number: 10780738
Abstract: A lug wrench apparatus comprising a collet-type assembly whereby the socket clamps to the lug nut in a manner similar to the way a collet clamps a router bit. The clamping mechanism can be provided either by a screw-compression, or an eccentric cam compression. Arbitrarily large amounts of torque can be applied by means of an extension which fits over the arm of a wrench that is clamped to the shaft of the collet.

  • Patent number: 10023004
Abstract: The present invention provides a deformable tire including a plurality of spokes. A first end of each of the spokes is connected to a core structure, and a second end of each of the spokes is connected to a tire body. A first length is provided between each of the tire bodies and the core structure connected by each of the spokes, and the spokes are elastic. The core structure is configured to fix and support the plurality of spokes, and each of the first lengths is dynamically adjusted by the elasticity of the spokes.

  • Patent number: 8549960
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide a tool for adjusting a military phone jack. A tool for adjusting a military phone jack, the tool comprising a modified head cap screw, an expanding split collet, a collet receiver shaft, and a jam nut driver. The modified head cap screw has an edge of the head cap machined to an angle between 1 and 89 degrees with respect to the unmachined portion of the head cap which is further from the screw shaft. The expanding split collet comprises a central hole throughout its longitudinal axis with the hole of sufficient diameter to receive the modified head cap screw, two or more slits through the exterior wall of the collet and extending from one end of the collet, and a machined inner diameter of the end of the collet having the slits, the angle of the machined inner diameter matching the angle on the head cap of the modified head cap screw.

  • Patent number: 5218890
Abstract: A keyless adjustable driver, attachable to a chuck on a drill, having a plurality of adjustable settings for holding and driving bolts with flat sides. The keyless adjustable driver includes a cylindrical body having an axial hole, a central shaft, passing through the axial hole, for attaching the driver to the chuck, a plurality of gripper arms pivotally mounted on the cylinder body for pivoting and holding the flat sides of the bolts in response to movement of the head of the central shaft engaging the gripper arms, and a wheel having a threaded axial hole for engaging screw-like threads on the central shaft to move the central shaft to close and lock the gripper arms to hold the bolt as the device rotates on the drill.

  • Patent number: 5213015
Abstract: A variable nut driver includes a multi-fingered collet with individual jaw faces at the free ends of the fingers and a ring connecting together all of the fingers at their other ends. The collet is contained within a tubular member secured to a handle. A flat thread follower within the collet has projections which extend between the fingers and through opposing elongated slots in the tubular member. The projections engage the inner thread of a rotatable sleeve surrounding the tubular member and collet at axially displaced positions. Rotation of the sleeve moves the thread follower and collet axially forward or back. As the collet is moved back the jaw faces extending past the open end of the tubular member are cammed toward each other. Conversely, as the collet is moved forward, the jaw faces move away from each other. Rearward movement of the sleeve is restricted by the position of the handle relative to the tubular member. This prevents the sleeve from becoming disengaged from the thread follower.

  • Patent number: 4819522
Abstract: A torque-off collar having a circular driver section which can be gripped at any rotational angle by a torque tool, and a set of such collars of different size by having driver sections of equal size. A robot tool can randomly grasp such a collar, and can install any member of the set without making programatic provisions for collar size, or for angular alignment.
