Slotted Socket Patents (Class 81/124.2)
  • Patent number: 6294719
Abstract: A string winding device for winding and unwinding the string on a peg of a stringed instrument has a generally cylindrical body with a slot extending inward from one end thereof. The slot has a plurality of sections, which are configured to engage different size and shape pegs on stringed instruments. The slot has a shallow and wide section, a deep and narrow section and a middle section of medium depth and width. A fourth section is located perpendicular to the other three sections and is configured for specialty tuning pegs. Extending from the top of the string winder body is a hexagonal shaft for engagement with a cordless screwdriver, drill or one of the hubs or cranks disclosed herein. A manual hub or crank with a handle may be used to turn the string winder body. The hub of the crank for the manual hub may utilize a flexible tab within the hub to interlock with a recess in the hexagonal shaft to hold the parts together during use.

  • Patent number: 6282989
Abstract: A power valve wrench includes a power drive assembly having a motor and a speed reduction device driving an annulus which defines a large center opening and a plurality of lugs or recesses on the interior wall of the annulus. The opening in the annulus receives a drive member having complementary lugs or recesses. The drive member, in turn defines a concentric polygonal opening which may be square, hexagonal, octagonal or other regular polygon shape which receives a complementarily configured stanchion of a valve handwheel drive member. A selection of valve handwheel drive members having 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 slots may be utilized with the power valve wrench. A safety or retaining ring removably attached to the valve handwheel drive member retains the member on a valve handwheel.

  • Patent number: 6237446
Abstract: A wrench adapter assembly is provided that can adapt a conventional manual or power wrench to be used to grasp and rotate a smooth-surfaced cylindrical object. The wrench adapter assembly includes of a pivoting hook, a biasing means for the hook, a wrench adapter with a multisided flange for engaging the jaw of a wrench and a concave jaw. The pivoting hook is in circumferential alignment with the concave jaw so as to receive a smooth-surfaced cylindrical article. The flange shoulder has sides that match up with the sides of the jaw of the wrench. Once the wrench adapter assembly is secured within the wrench jaw, it may receive and hold a smooth-surfaced cylindrical article. The wrench adapter rotates with the jaw of the wrench. Thus, the wrench may be used in combination with the wrench adapter assembly to rotate smooth-surfaced cylindrical articles.
