Sliding Jaw Face Patents (Class 81/179)
  • Patent number: 10994405
Abstract: A wrench includes a body having a head and a handle portion defining a longitudinal axis. The wrench includes a first jaw coupled to the head with the first jaw including first teeth and an edge. The edge defines a width of the first jaw. The wrench includes a second jaw extending through an aperture of the head with the second jaw including a threaded portion and second teeth. The wrench includes an actuator coupled to the threaded portion of the second jaw such that rotation of the actuator relative to the second jaw moves the second teeth relative to the first teeth. A length is measured from the edge of the first jaw to the second end of the handle portion parallel to the longitudinal axis. A ratio of the width of the first jaw over the length is less than 0.06.

  • Patent number: 10788867
Abstract: A handle for a computer component, such as a motherboard, of an information handling system may have an adjustable size. By allowing the handle to change size, the advantages of a large handle, such as easy handling and reduced damage to nearby components, are gained, and the advantages of a small handle, such as reduced size and improved airflow, are gained. The handle may be affixed to a computer component by any fastener such as a screw, pin, clip, or plastic connector. The handle may change size by increasing in height from a collapsed position to an expanded position, or change size by decreasing in height from an expanded position to a collapsed position. The handle may be moved into the expanded position for handling during assembly or repairs of a computer system, and then moved in to the collapsed position for normal operation of the computer system.

  • Patent number: 10549406
Abstract: An open end wrench includes a body having a jaw portion for holding a workpiece. The jaw portion includes an arcuate sliding groove, an expanding groove, and a slider movable relative to the arcuate sliding groove along an arcuate path. The jaw includes a first jaw having a force-applying face and an evasive portion adjacent to the force-applying face. When the jaw portion deforms elastically while wrenching the workpiece, the expanding groove increases the expanding effect within an elastic limit of the jaw portion, such that a corner between the force-receiving face in a first rotating direction and a sixth force-receiving face in a second rotating direction can move across the force-applying face into the evasive portion, avoiding damage to the slider and the first jaw resulting from failure in withstanding the reactive force from the workpiece. Thus, the open end wrench has high toughness and a long service life.

Abstract: An open end wrench includes a jaw portion having first and second jaws. The first jaw includes a sliding groove slideably receiving a slide. When the jaw portion is not engaged with a workpiece, the slide is in a free position. When the jaw portion receives the workpiece but does not drive the workpiece, a buffering space is formed between an abutting end of the guiding slot and a guide fixed in the sliding groove. When the jaw portion drives the workpiece and deforms elastically, the body rotates relative to the workpiece, but the slide does not rotate together with the body due to the buffering space such that the end of the slide remains in surface contact with a face of the workpiece. Also, a buffering angle can be formed between a wrenching face on the slide and the face of the workpiece when the jaw portion receives the workpiece but does not drive the workpiece.

Abstract: The present invention may be used for rotating a polygonal object. A first wrench member may have a handle with two ends with a fixed jaw attached at a first end and with a cavity formed in the fixed jaw and first end. A second wrench member may be a movable jaw with a curved jaw attached to a ratcheting element. The ratcheting element may be slidably positioned in the cavity to position the curved jaw opposite the fixed jaw. The second wrench member may be constrained by the cavity and a cavity insert member to slide in said cavity about the center of an arc. The second wrench member may be spring biased by an elastic compression element to move toward the fixed jaw. A gripping surface of the curved jaw may be structured relative to the center of the arc to cause the curved jaw to be urged toward the fixed jaw when rotating the fixed jaw against an intervening polygonal object, and to cause the movable jaw to ratchet open when the handle is rotated in the opposite direction.
