  • Patent number: 7313983
Abstract: A compact, ergonomic, pocket-sized bottle opener having a thin, generally flat body. The bottom edge of the body includes a jaw opening and at least one area for receiving a lifting finger. Abstract: The present new and improved invention designed to open Champagne and Sparkling Beverage bottles sealed with modern plastic stoppers is a one piece bottle opener with no movable parts. This invention is designed to fit comfortably in the palm of the hand. By securing the ring on the opener over the stopper top and the lower jaw of the opener under the bottom edge of the stopper, a consumer can easily and safely lift the stopper out of the bottle. The gas in these beverages can be released slowly and safely with this opener. By lifting up on the handle, the stopper is gently pulled up and out of the bottle without the usual past sudden explosion of gas and beverage spillage. Safety and ease in opening these bottles sealed with plastic stoppers is the purpose of this new and improved bottle opener.

  • Patent number: 6799491
Abstract: A jar opening aide employs a lever action for lifting a lower peripheral lip portion of a jar sealing lid, defeating the sealing of an interior of the jar, and compromising any vacuum present within the jar. The jar opening aide may be structured as an elongated member having a first end, a middle portion, and a second end. The first end includes a lid engaging portion for contacting and engaging the lower peripheral lip portion of the jar sealing lid, enabling an upward force to be applied for lifting the peripheral lip portion and defeating the seal. A user adjustable fulcrum mechanism, which is coupled to the middle portion, is adjustable by a user so that the jar opening aide may be used with jar sealing lids of differing vertical heights.

  • Publication number: 20040163494
Abstract: A tool for opening a container sealed by a ring-pull seal is described. The hand-operated tool saves overloading a person's hands by gripping the ring-pull or tab, and manipulating the tab in a first direction so that the seal is broken, and then in a second direction so that the tab is laid flat or perhaps removed. For tabs with a large ring, there is a ring engaging means placed in relation to an adjacent sharp tool edge for pressing against the region of the frangible seal in order to initiate breaking of the seal, and a fulcrum or heel on which the tool can be rocked in order to lift the lid away. For beverage containers with smaller tabs the tab itself breaks the seal after being levered by the hand-operated tool.
