Patent number: 11541513Abstract: A pair of plumbing pliers includes two levers, a pawl and a torque spring. After adjusting the desired bite size according to a diameter of a pipe, the levers are pivoted relative to each other in a first range to clamp and release the pipe repeatedly to rotate the pipe. To adjust a bite size of the pair of plumbing pliers according to a diameter of another pipe, the levers are pivoted and then moved relative to each other in a second range. Little resistance is encountered in the first range. However, considerable resistance is encountered in the second range. Hence, the difference between the first and second ranges can easily be felt. Accordingly, it is not likely that a user will, by mistake, enter the second range, i.e., increase the bite size of the pair of plumbing pliers.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2020Date of Patent: January 3, 2023Assignee: Mytools Enterprise Co., Ltd.Inventor: Cheng-Chang Tsai

Patent number: 7367248Abstract: A screwtop opener with a first handle and a second handle which can be pivoted in relation to the first handle. A first clamping jaw is formed on the first handle and a second clamping jaw is formed on the second handle. A screwtop can be grasped by the two clamping jaws. A distance between the clamping jaws can be reduced by pivoting the two handles against each other. In accordance with this invention, a first clamping jaw is embodied on a straightedge, which can be pushed into the first handle and can be arrested in a multitude of positions with respect to the first handle. Thus, it is possible to achieve a short linear extension of the screwtop opener without foregoing the comfort of being able to also grasp and open large screwtops.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2006Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: MOHA Moderne Haushaltwaren AGInventor: Walter Ruffner

Patent number: 5267494Abstract: The present disclosure provides an improved bottle opener incorporated on a key having a head and a body. The head has a U-shaped cutout at a downward angle in the range of about 30.degree. to about 60.degree. with fulcrum and lifting edges. The cutout has a width of about -5% to about +8% that of the thickness of a bottle cap. The fulcrum edge has a radius at the cutout opening that engages the top of a bottle cap without puncturing it. The lifting edge passes beneath the rim of the bottle cap, and the body is long enough to provide leverage sufficient to remove the bottle cap.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1993Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: CEW Manufacturing Co.Inventor: Casey E. Patent number: 5189750Abstract: A combination bottle opener and can opener is disclosed. A bottle opening element may be movably connected to a can opening element. The bottle opening element may include a first end having an angled portion and a protrusion that cooperate to define a bottle cap receiving area. The bottle opening element may also include an angled body section. The can opening element may include a cutting blade pivotally connected to a body part. The cutting blade may include a cutting edge, a cut-out portion and a plurality of projections. The body part may include a strengthening rib, a tapered edge and a can rim receiving notch. In an open, extended position the combination opener has length greater than the bottle opening element or can opening element alone. This greater length increases the leverage and decreases the amount of force necessary to open a bottle or can, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1991Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Inventor: Sean M. Patent number: 5163346Abstract: A bottle cap and seal remover for removing the bottle cap and seal from a bottle of gas line anti-freeze, enabling the contents of the bottle to be poured into a gas tank. A first embodiment is formed as a hand-held opener which may be mounted on a key-ring so as to be readily available at the filling station. The first embodiment includes a handle and a plurality of lever portions integral with each other so as to provide structure to pry the bottle cap and seal from the top of the bottle. The second embodiment includes a board designed to be placed in filling station lanes so as to be accessible to both filling station customers and personnel, the board having a bottle cap remover, a seal piercer and remover, and a bottle cap and seal receptacle integrally mounted thereon to receive and retain the removed bottle caps and seals. Both the first and second embodiments may selectively have instructions and advertising on at least one surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1991Date of Patent: November 17, 1992Inventor: Joshua L. Patent number: 5133233Abstract: Bottle opening tool having bottle cap-engaging hook and end fulcrum bar, each secured to a rigid back plate, is incorporated into the palm of a glove. Back plate is shaped to conform to the shape of the palm of the wearer'hand. Bottle cap is removed by back of user's hand applying lifting force to glove. Entire bottle opening tool member fits within palm of glove, thereby leaving fingers unrestricted to movement both while opening bottles and when not being used to open bottles.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1991Date of Patent: July 28, 1992Inventor: Charles M. Patent number: 4922770Abstract: A self-locking pliers provides automatic jaw adjustment for gripping objects of different sizes. First and second pinsers-defining members each have a body portion, a jaw-defining portion and a handle portion, being joined by a bolt extending through a slot in one of the members in pivotal, mutually moveable relationship. The slot permits pivoting as well as sliding movement of the first member relative to the second member, and has along a jaw-proximate side teeth to be engaged by corresponding teeth of a locking pawl carried rotatably within the slot by a shank of the bolt. A jaw-remote side of the slotted opening provides a smooth surface for sliding engagement of a smooth reaction surface of the locking pawl opposite from its teeth. The locking pawl has on its jaw-proximate side a camming surface proximate to the locking teeth. A control arm is pivotally engaged at one end to the body portion of the second member.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1988Date of Patent: May 8, 1990Assignee: American Pneumatic Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Andrzej J. Patent number: 4809571Abstract: A multiple stroke hand tool (2) comprises a ram (18) slidably mounted to a housing frame (44). A compact rotatable ratchet member (30) is connected to the ram (18) and pivotally mounted to the housing frame (44) such that as operating means (90) are moved, a drive pawl (32) engages the ratchet member (30) causing the ratchet member (30) to rotate, which in turn causes the ram (18) to move between an open position and a closed position. An automatic fast take-up member (60) is provided which cooperates with the operating means (90). This type of automatic fast take-up allows minimal operator input, enabling the operator to better perform the other operation required. This fast take-up member (60) also insures that terminals are properly positioned with respect to the ram (18), thereby providing a much more reliable operation of the hand tool (2).Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1987Date of Patent: March 7, 1989Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventor: John G.
