  • Patent number: 10213909
Abstract: An apparatus to service the driveline of a vehicle is presented. The apparatus includes two members, a pivot element, and a bridge lock. The members each have an elongated handle segment and a jaw segment. The pivot element is configured to pivotally connect both members together near the jaw segments. The bridge lock is configured to be movably positioned along the handle segments. The jaw segments combine to define a profile which is adapted to secure to the splined coupling interface of a vehicle propeller shaft. The bridge lock is adapted to provide holding pressure to the handle segments, so as to lock the jaw segments when secured to the splined coupling interface.

  • Patent number: 8555753
Abstract: A strap wrench includes a strap that is a continuous loop and has notches. No portion of the strap is affixed to any portion of the wrench. The strap is placed around an object that needs to be turned such as an oil filter on an engine. A tension mechanism is then used to tighten the strap into place around the object to be turned. A ratchet mechanism engages one or more notches on the strap to prevent movement of the strap in one direction while allowing movement of the strap in the opposite direction. The combination of the notched continuous loop strap and ratchet mechanism allow the strap wrench to have a ratcheting action after the strap is tightened into place around the object to be turned.

  • Patent number: 8056446
Abstract: The invention is a ratcheting open ended wrench comprising a main body having an elongate primary handle portion and an upper stationary jaw element, a secondary handle opposed to the primary handle portion and having a binding surface at the top being pivotally attached to the main body, a tertiary handle pivotally attached to the main body having a gear element cooperating with a geared end of a connecting rod, the opposing end pivotally and slidably fixed to a lower movable jaw assembly, the lower movable jaw assembly being spring biased against the upper stationary jaw and positioned within a main body guide slot so that the secondary handle binding surface contacts the lower jaw assembly and activation of the secondary handle clamps the lower movable jaw assembly relative to the upper stationary jaw. Activation of the tertiary handle counteracts the lower movable jaw spring bias to open the jaws.

  • Patent number: 4526070
Abstract: In a pliers-type tool having a stationary first handle and a second handle pivotally movable relative to the first handle, a slidable jaw carrier is movable along a rectilinear guiding track in a body member due to the pivotal movement of the second handle. The first handle is fixed to the body member. The second handle is in engagement with a toggle mechanism including a driver arm which, in turn, is pivotally attached at a stationary location to the body member. When the second handle is pivoted, the driver arm contacts, in a gliding manner, the jaw carrier and moves it rectilinearly in the guiding track. The driver arm extends transversely of the rectilinear guiding direction of the guiding track. Forces acting through the driver arm in the direction transversely of the rectilinear direction of the guiding track are prevented from affecting the movement of the jaw carrier. The second handle can be connected to the first handle by a connecting link.
