  • Patent number: 6029549
Abstract: A screwdriver has a handle having a storage area for storing bits used with the screwdriver. The storage area consists of races formed in the handle that securely hold the extra bits so that they do not rattle and can be seen without removing them from the handle. The screwdriver also has an adjustable or multi-position shank so that the length of the shank can be increased or decreased as desired.

  • Patent number: 6007277
Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable electric drill having a rotatable magazine containing multiple tool bits from which a single bit may be selected for use. The magazine is in the form of an approximate 120-degree segment of a cylinder with a plurality of open grooves for holding the various bits. The drill includes a Jacobs-type chuck assembly with a bore into which the selected bit is inserted for use. The magazine may be rotated to position any one of the magazine grooves into axial alignment with the bore of the chuck, so that the user may index the magazine to position a selected bit for expulsion from a particular magazine groove into the chuck. The chuck may then be tightened around the selected bit and the electric motor actuated to drive the bit. A cable assembly within the drill housing is operable with an exterior button to be movable between a stored position and a forward position to push a selected bit from a groove on the magazine into the chuck assembly.

  • Patent number: 5964132
Abstract: A multi-purpose utility tool, having a handle, a shaft and a locking and release mechanism. The handle defines a centrally located opening. The shaft has a first end and a second end and is to be slidably positioned within said centrally located opening. The locking and release mechanism locks the handle upon the shaft in first position and a second position. The first position allows the first end to be exposed for use while the second end is secured within the handle. The second position allows the second end to be exposed for use while the first end is secured within the handle. A handle stop portion extends from the handle towards the shaft. A shaft stop member extends outwardly from the shaft. The handle stop portion allows the shaft stop member and the shaft to be slidably positioned between a pair of limits of movement. The limits of movement include the first and second locking positions.

  • Patent number: 5954463
Abstract: An improved two-ended reversible drill/driver tool for use with Power drills. The tool having a hollow cylindrical socket that at one end has a drive shank for insertion into a chuck of a powered drill, and, at the opposite end, has a polygonally shaped opening therein for receiving a correspondingly shaped, two-ended, reversible tool assembly. This tool assembly is sized to slide within the hollow socket, and has a combined drill bit and countersink at one end, and, at the other end, a polygonally shaped opening for accepting a screw driver bit having a shank with a Polygonal cross section.
