  • Patent number: 11846811
Abstract: A fiber optic connector with a hub extension positioned on the hub of the connector. Prior to assembly of the connector with the rear boot, the hub and ferrule assembly can be pushed backward within the front and rear housings to clear an anti-rotation portion of the front housing and turned for tuning. After complete assembly of the rear boot, the hub extension bottoms out against the boot prior to the hub and ferrule assembly disengaging the anti-rotation portion of the front housing, thereby maintaining the tuned position.

  • Patent number: 11541515
Abstract: A multipurpose tool for handles and valves has been designed to facilitate the operation of outdoor water faucets (sillcocks, cocks, spigots, bibs, taps) and water splitters (diverters, wyes). Metal fingers (pins, tines) on the tool fit into or onto window, tee, and cross tee handles to open or close water faucets. Other metal fingers fit onto various shapes of levers to open or close water splitter valves. The valve fingers also work as a wrench to tighten or loosen the nut securing most faucet handles to the spigot. Both types of fingers can be used to scoop out damaged leaky washers. The tool arm has a metal file surface to smooth rough faucet edges that touch washers, often a place where water leaks occur. Finally, the hollow tool handle contains extra plumbing sealing tape and washers for onsite faucet and hose repairs.

  • Patent number: 8893366
Abstract: Tools for removing connectors from ports in a network device, and related systems and methods. The tool is elongate with at least one prong at a distal end. The tool includes a very slight width relative to either its length or width, such that it can be inserted into a space adjacent a connector disposed in a port, such as between closely spaced adjacent connectors. The at least one prong is received in an anchor point, such as an opening, in the network device. Pivoting the tool applies a compressive force to a latch of the connector, disengaging the latch from its respective catch on the port, after which it can be removed by pulling it out of the port.

  • Patent number: 8869330
Abstract: An automotive tool for servicing air-conditioning (AC) systems equipped with quick-connect adaptors. May be used to service modern refrigerant R132A-compatible systems or retrofitted older systems. The tool is adapted for attaching, detaching, opening, and closing valved T-adaptors used to attach gas lines and pressure gauges such as required for adjusting pressure in AC systems at full operational pressure and temperature, and particularly finds use when the “hi-tap” and “lo-tap” fittings are in hard to reach places around the engine block or chassis. The tool includes swappable extension arms so that length and angular geometry may be adjusted as needed. The tool aids in avoiding injury on dangerously hot surfaces and moving fan blades or belts. Surprisingly, using two such tools, one for the high tap and one for the low tap, a mechanic may work each tool singlehandedly to complete any necessary pressure adjustments.

Abstract: A no-slip screwdriver is provided. The present invention comprises a screwdriver having a plurality of protrusions extending perpendicularly from the blade faces. These protrusions bear against the interior walls of a screw head groove, preventing the blade from slipping or skidding when the device is in use. The protrusions increase the width of the screwdriver blade, giving the screwdriver blade less room to move within the screw head. The protrusions of the present invention may be provided in a variety of different configurations, including ridges and nubs. The present invention may further be provided in either flathead or Phillips head variations.

  • Patent number: 7007573
Abstract: A fastener impact driver device 10 includes a fastener engagement member 12 having a plurality of projections 14 disposed about a lower portion 16 that engages a corresponding peripheral portion 18 of a fastener 20. The device 10 further includes a positioning member 22 having an upper portion 24 that ultimately receives a force thereupon, and a lower portion 26 that engages a cooperating upper portion 28 of the fastener engagement member 12 whereby a force such a hammer strike is imparted upon the upper portion 24 of the positioning member 22 to drive the projections 14 of the fastener engagement member 12 into the head 44 of the fastener 20 without damage of the fastener engagement member 12, whereupon the positioning member 22 is removed from the fastener engagement member 12 and a hand tool is removably secured to the fastener engagement member 12 to impart rotary motion to the member 12 and the fastener 20 thereby removing the fastener 20 from or urging the fastener 20 into a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6988431
Abstract: The removal tool is used in connection with a locking nut and bolt system. The bolt thread has a plurality of notches generally longitudinally spaced in a predetermined pattern. The locking unit or element carries one or more tines. The tine has a distal tine end adapted to latch onto the lock face of the notch on the bolt and, when the distal tine end is not disposed in one or more notches, the tine end moves on the bolt thread crest. When the distal tine end is in the notch or notches, the lock face of the notch prevents counter-rotational movement of the bolt with respect to the nut when the distal tine end abuts the lock face. The locking unit supports the tine and may be cylindrical, rectangular or on a perpendicular support face normal to a radial plane through the axial centerline of the nut thread. The locking unit may be on a nut insert or may be carried on the leg of a U, J or S-shaped clip.

  • Patent number: 6931968
Abstract: A member for being joined to a mating member is provided. The member includes a number of drive sections that are engagable by a driver having corresponding driver sections. The rotation of the driver causes the member to be joined to the mating member. Each drive section can include a drive face body, a flat and a ramp. Each of them has an angular extent for desired contact with and engagement by the driver sections. The drive sections are integral with a drive support of the member. The drive sections can be located at a border section of the drive support. In one embodiment, the drive of the member is comprised of an inner drive and an outer drive. In another embodiment, the member is hollow. Different sized members can be joined to different mating members using the same driver. The drive is configured, particularly the ramp thereof, to substantially reduce unwanted removal of the member from the mating member.

  • Patent number: 6848920
Abstract: An assembly for connecting a coaxial cable to an externally threaded connecting part. The connecting assembly has a tubular fitting with a central axis and axially spaced first and second ends. The tubular fitting includes a rotatable nut at the first end to threadably engage an externally threaded connecting part. The second end is adapted to receive a coaxial cable. The rotatable nut has a contoured surface portion configured to be operatively engaged by a complementary turning tool having a first configuration that is directed radially into turning engagement with the rotatable nut and useable to turn the rotatable nut around the central axis. The shield assembly extends around the rotatable nut and blocks radial access to the contoured outer surface by a turning tool having the first configuration. The shield assembly does not extend substantially beyond the rotatable nut towards the second end of the tubular fitting.
