Rotary Shear Pair Patents (Class 82/57)
  • Patent number: 10022895
Abstract: A machine that removes the bead wires from tires for the purpose of reclaiming the wire and recycling of the tire. The bead of the tire is placed over a drive wheel and tension rollers, the tension rollers move away from the drive wheel which stretches the bead against the drive wheel. The drive wheel is driven by a drive system and causes the bead to rotate. As the bead rotates a blade contacts the inner periphery of the bead and severs the rubber and reinforcement material. Directly following the blade are two plates that are spaced apart approximately equal to the diameter of the bead wire. The plates push the rubber and reinforcement material off of the bead wire as the bead rotates.

  • Publication number: 20030145695
Abstract: An improved apparatus for trimming an irregular open end of a container body is disclosed. The improved trimmer cartridge includes a sealed gear housing, for retention of interior lubricant and to reduce contamination. An adjustment mechanism, accessible from the exterior of the housing, is provided to adjust a gap between two blades of the trimmer cartridge. The adjustment mechanism provides improved control over the gap width, which is between 8-25% of the can metal thickness. Additionally, a tang that is removably connected to a shaft for a first blade provides rotational power for the trimmer. The tang is replaceable without requiring the housing to be opened or requiring replacement of the blade shaft. Another blade shaft is provided for a second blade, with the two blade shafts having substantially equal mass. The trimmer also includes spur gears, which do not have the thrust load associated with prior art helical gears.

  • Patent number: 5161441
Abstract: A circle shear device for cutting holes and rings in sheet metal wherein a pair of spaced apart, coaxially aligned center shafts are each provided with a cutter wheel which is mounted on a radially extended arm. In operation a metal blank is inserted between the two spaced apart center shafts and the center shafts are brought together wherein the sheet metal blank is restrained from moving by the bearing mounted supporting platform members of each center shaft. Synchronous rotation of the center shafts is achieved by a jack shaft assembly which joins the two center shafts. In a preferred embodiment, a motor is provided to power the rotation of the shafts. In an alternate embodiment, the shafts may be rotated by the use of a hand crank. A pneumatic cylinder is also provided to one of the shafts to permit vertical reciprocation of the shafts for removal and insertion of metal blanks for cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4557167
Abstract: An apparatus for trimming a scrap ring from a cylindrical container body and its method of operation. A cylindrical container body, closed at one end and provided with a flange member which extends substantially at right angles to the body at the opposite open end, has a scrap ring trimmed from the flange member. The container body is fed into one of a series of hemispherical pockets of a rotary turret and is then moved laterally thereto with the aid of a vacuum holder that engages the closed end. The open end of a container is presented to a main disk cutter that rotates about its axis continuously and which travels in alignment with one of the hemispherical pockets. A frusto-conical ram is mounted on the main disk cutter and is inserted into the open end of the container to insure its roundness. An auxiliary disk cutter, whose axis is substantially at right angles to the main disk cutter, is mounted on a reciprocable bar member along with a stripper plate.

  • Patent number: 4422581
Abstract: One aspect of the invention is a tire debeading machine (10). A tire is supported on a guide apparatus (15) and raised to an operative position by the action of a support arm (21). A cutting blade (33) is moved against the sidewall of the tire, cutting off the bead. After the initial cut is made, the tire is raised slightly further by the combined action of an initially interlocking vertical arm (75), which extends from said support arm (21), and a roller (71) on an L-shaped arm (69). The further cut by blade (33) is closer to the bead. Another aspect of the invention is a granulating machine which includes three feed rollers (93) (95) (97) which feed the debeaded tires into a cylindrical cutting chamber (106). Inside the cutting chamber (106) are a plurality of rotary cutting blades (127) mounted on mounting plates (130), which cooperate with stationary cutting blades to produce granulated rubber particles and fiber particles.
