Patent number: 9375777Abstract: A stock ejector assembly and method for metal forming dies includes a stock ejector with a large spring and a ring-style stripper. The ring-style stripper provides a larger surface area for contacting the stock. The large compression spring is preloaded and when a load is applied, the stripper retracts and the spring pressure increases. When the dies separate, the stock ejector pushes the part off flat surfaces, separating surfaces sealed by adhesion, including but not limited to oil or lubricant adhesion.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2015Date of Patent: June 28, 2016Assignee: STANDARD LIFTERS, INC.Inventors: Scott M. Patent number: 6009783Abstract: The invention relates to a sheet metal work center and a method for fabricating sheet metal therefrom. In the sheet metal work center, a locking arrangement is placed between the upper tool and a releaser, and the transfer device is arranged to consist of two parts. The sheet metal work center is adaptable to work in either a passive or active mode. In the passive mode, the releaser is positioned at a certain distance from the surface of the sheet, and the movements of the upper tool and the releaser are made with the locking arrangement locked and either part of the transfer device used. In the active mode, the releaser is positioned to be in contact with the sheet, and the movements of the upper tool and releaser are made with the locking arrangement locked and either part of the transfer device used.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1997Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Lillbacka Jetair OyInventors: Jorma Taijonlahti, Mikael Ollikainen

Patent number: 5129295Abstract: A method of cutting stacked layers of compressible material utilizing a steel rule cutting die. An open cell foam member is placed in the area between spaced portions of the cutting die to define a flat upper surface substantially flush with the sharpened upper edge of the cutting die. The stacked layers of compressible material are placed on top of the foam member and on top of the sharpened upper edge of the die and the upper platen of the associated press is lowered to precompress the stacked compressible layers prior to the cutting operation by the die. The foam member is an open cell member and has a compressibility such that it maintains a flat upper face flush with the upper cutting edge of the die during the precompression of the layers and thereafter moves downwardly in a smooth translatory manner to allow the layer to be moved downwardly through the cutting die.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1991Date of Patent: July 14, 1992Assignee: Ontario Die Company LimitedInventors: Mike Geffros, Martin M. Patent number: 4611483Abstract: A metal working press having a base, a die set located over the base, and coaxial primary and secondary rams movable towards and away from the base to drive the die set through a working stroke and return it to an open condition. The die set includes upper and lower die assemblies and the upper die assembly is connected to the primary ram in such a manner as to prevent axial separation but permit lateral movement of the die set relative to the ram whereby the die set can be moved into and out of the press. The upper die assembly includes two die members which are relatively movable in the axial direction of the ram and the extent of that relative movement is preset by a lost motion mechanism existing in the connection between the primary ram and the upper die assembly and also by engagement between opposed surfaces of the two rams.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1984Date of Patent: September 16, 1986Assignee: REPCO LimitedInventor: Bernard M. Patent number: 4509396Abstract: A tool for punching relatively thick paper stacks, comprises a cylindrical, hollow punch with a cutting edge on its front outer edge. Processing takes place in the manner of a punching operation against a bearing surface, which has a hole corresponding to tool with a counterpunch arranged centrally therein. A blade is arranged in the resulting annular gap in order to separate punching waste which has been pressed into said annular gap and in order to permit the removal thereof.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1983Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Assignee: Bielomatik Leuze GmbH & Co.Inventors: Walter Schall, Guido Negro, Martin Hipp, Hans Albrecht

Patent number: 4267753Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing a smooth edge blank from stock material. A blanking die is carried by the movable die shoe and a closely cooperating blanking punch is secured on the fixed die shoe. Spring biassed means is displaceably provided within the blanking die to apply pressure on a sheet of stock located on the punch only over the area to be blanked out from said sheet of stock. A piercing punch may also be provided and extends coaxially through the blanking die and a bore extending through the blanking punch provides a piercing die. The spring biassed means for applying pressure to clamp the stock only over the area to be blanked is a shedder displaceably disposed within the bore of the blanking die. A stripper encircling the blanking punch is provided for removing scrap stock upon completion of the blanking step and a spacer means is disposed to space the blanking die and the stripper apart by a distance exceeding the thickness of the stock.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1979Date of Patent: May 19, 1981Inventor: Edward D. Patent number: 4233868Abstract: Apparatus for moving lightweight articles, for instance thermoplastics cups, in which the articles are moved from one location by ejector pins which push the articles onto a conveyor for transfer to another location. The articles are held in a desired orientation as they are moved by the pins. Ideally, a passage extends through each pin to hold the articles thereto by vacuum which alternates with air pressure in the passage to force articles from the pin onto the conveyor when the pin is closest to the conveyor. The pins move along guide passages which assist in maintaining articles properly orientated and stabilizing plates are preferred adjacent the conveyor to stabilize articles during transfer onto the conveyor. The apparatus is useful in removing thermoformed cups from sheet and for this purpose a cutting device may cooperate with each ejector pin for cutting and then transferring cups.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1979Date of Patent: November 18, 1980Assignee: Bellaplast GmbHInventors: Wolfgang Heni, Peter Wolf

Patent number: 4131042Abstract: Apparatus for cutting and removing layers of photoresist overlaying tooling holes in a printed wire board blank. A lower cutter is mounted on a base so that its cutting edge projects above the upper surface of the base a distance substantially equal to the thickness of a layer of photoresist. A cutter head is mounted on the base for movement parallel to the upper surface of the base. An upper cutter is mounted on the cutter head for movement by a cutter actuator to cause the upper and lower cutters to sever segments of layers of photoresist overlaying a tooling hole of a PWB blank positioned between them. Each cutter is provided with a plunger movable within their respective cutters. The upper surface of the lower plunger, when the lower plunger is retracted, projects above the lower cutting edge of the lower cutter; and the upper plunger is biased downwardly so that its bottom surface projects below the cutting edges of the upper cutter.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1977Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: Honeywell Information Systems Inc.Inventors: Dennis E.
