  • Patent number: 6729213
Abstract: When the step of transferring a ceramic green sheet held on a chuck head having a holding surface with a plurality of vacuum ports distributed thereon onto a depositing table is repeated to obtain a laminated product, undesired deformation or damage is produced on the ceramic green sheet due to negative pressure applied to the chucking port and an obtained monolithic ceramic electronic component becomes defective by aligning of portions having the deformation or the damage in the depositing direction. In order to solve this problem, when transferring of the ceramic green sheet is repeated in the depositing step, the relative positions of the chuck head and the depositing table are shifted so as to bringing the chucking port into the same position during a first transferring step and a subsequent second transferring step.

Abstract: A continuous flighted conveyorbelt (18) is fed product (12) from a transverse direction. As the belt moves the product forward, offset water jets (56) cause some of the items not seated in a flight (20) to be rotated and captured in the flights. Further movement brings the product (12) to a zone where water jets (72) force all items to one side against a registration plate (76). Excess product and items not captured are forced off the surface of the belt by water jets (62) and are carried away to be fed again. A cutting blade (84) is set an appropriate distance from the registration plate (76) to trim product captured and registered. The products are then forced across the width of the belt by repositioning water jets 102 and stop against a second registration plate (104). • Patent number: 5713255
Abstract: Described is a process and an apparatus (10) for the production of thin sections which are cut off a specimen (16), by the use of a cutting blade (20) of a microtome (12), and then transferred to a liquid bath (40). In order to prevent undesired compression of thin sections (98) during the cutting operation, the thin sections (98) are transfer from the cutting blade (20) to the liquid bath (40) by flowing fluid from the cutting blade (20) to the liquid bath, wherein the liquid bath is disposed at a spacing from the cutting blade by a flow passage. The flowing fluid is selectively guided, by a change-over switching device (56), to the liquid bath (40) or to a waste container (52) so that good thin sections (98) are separated from unsatisfactory thin sections (98).

  • Patent number: 5682804
Abstract: An apparatus for trimming a ring from the neck of a blow molded plastic bottle includes a reverse punch for cutting a ring from the neck and positioning the ring on the punch shaft and a ring stripper for cutting one side of the ring on the punch shaft and stripping the ring from the shaft. The ring stripper travels transversely of the punch shaft. As the reverse punch is retracted with the cut ring on the punch shaft, the ring stripper is moved transversely across the path of the punch shaft. The ring stripper engages an edge of the cut ring and subsequently moves the cut ring away and severs one side to strip the ring from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5492582
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, in which predetermined portions of two glass plates bonded to each other with a sealing member interposed therebetween and constituting the display device, can be cut without turning over the bonded two glass plates and without breaking necessary portions thereof. In the method of manufacturing the liquid crystal display device, first, an upper one of the bonded two glass plates is half cut from its upper surface with a blade, and unnecessary portions of the upper glass plate are removed by the use of a vacuum suction head. Thereafter, predetermined portions of exposed portions of a lower one of the bonded two glass plates are fully cut with the blade. In accordance with it, it is not necessary to turn over the the bonded two glass plates-to cut it into a plurality of units, and, therefore, a cutting process can be performed automatically.

  • Patent number: 5467676
Abstract: Method and apparatus for cutting a wrapper on a cylindrical roll in which a blade has a pointed tip joined to an inclined edge extending outwardly and an opposite smooth surface, the blade being moved under the outer wrap of the wrapper but outward of the material of the roll and continuing to be moved along a predetermined path along the length of the roll, with the inclined edge cutting the outer wrapper. The blade is positioned perpendicular to the roll and circumferentially from the outer end of the wrapper. In a preferred embodiment a longitudinal bubble is formed in the outer wrap of the wrapper and the blade tears through the crown of this bubble. Also in the preferred embodiment, a gathering device is provided for removing and flattening the cut wrapper.

  • Patent number: 5448933
Abstract: A method and apparatus for stamping a strip of material to prevent slug "back out" is disclosed. The stamping machine has a punch which moves through a first stroke and a second stroke. A slug receiving opening is provided in the die. The punch is moved during the first stroke into engagement with the strip of material. A slug is punched from the strip of material to form an opening therein. The punch is then moved through a second stroke, in which the punch is moved through the opening in the strip of material. As this occurs, the punch forces a volume of gas ahead of the punch, so that the volume of gas cooperates with the slug to force the slug into the slug receiving opening.

Abstract: A method for perforating foil includes cutting out subsequent series of perforations with heated bushes, grasping the cut-out discs and removing these discs from the foil from which they have been cut out. A device for carrying out this method utilizes first and second cylinders which are rotated relative to each other with a first one of the cylinders being provided with heated, perforating bushes that are received with holes provided in the second cylinder. Concentric with the holes provided in the second cylinder are nipples. A vacuum source is connected to the nipples such that the nipples can grasp the cut-out discs and then a compressed source is connected to the nipples for easy removal of the discs from the device.

Abstract: Pressure sensing transducer 140 monitors pressure transients in the liquid in accelerator tube 110 of a hydraulic cutting system induced by food product impinging upon, being cut by, and passing through cutter blade assembly 80. The occurrence of above-normal pressure transients indicates the presence of a system blockage caused by failure of food product to pass cleanly through the cutter blade assembly, and is used as a control signal to activate stepping motor 170 to rotate cylinder assembly 12. Cylinder assembly 12 contains a plurality of barrel assemblies holding cutter blade assemblies 80 and is rotated to index clean barrel assemblies into the hydraulic cutter system pressurized fluid flow path, either upon the detection of a system blockage, or in a timed automatic replacement sequence.

  • Patent number: 5245897
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for advancing the leading edge of a corrugated web for positioning the web for a secondary operation, such as a cutting operation to cut a discrete sheet from the web. The web has a plurality of alternating peaks and valleys. The apparatus comprises an endless loop conveyor including a plurality of spaced support bars for contacting the valleys of the web. At least one vacuum source holds the web against the support bars. A motor and a distributed control system repeatedly advance the conveyor and the leading edge of the web from the entrance end to the exit end of the conveyor. A rotary encoder and a sensor sense the presence of a support bar near the position for applying the cutting operation. The vacuum source is de-activated, and at least one pressure source is activated to remove the cut sheet from the support bars.
