Abstract: Apparatus for cutting plural aligned ply strips includes plural knife blades disposed in a spaced manner such that each knife blade is aligned with and in closely spaced relation to an associated ply strip. The knife blades are pivotally mounted in a common housing and are coupled to a single rotational drive for allowing each knife blade to assume the same predetermined cutting angle relative to its associated ply strip, where the cutting angle may be varied between ±45°. The plural knife blades are coupled to a rotational drive by means of plural circular drive gears and are connected to a linear drive for displacing the knife blades into contact with the ply strips for cutting the strips at the predetermined angle. The severed edges of the aligned ply strips are formed in mutual linear alignment and do not include projecting triangular patterns, or crenelations.

Abstract: A device for through-cutting of an extruded ice mass, which has a first knife which is reciprocably arranged in a transverse first plane immediately after the outlet of the nozzle and arranged with a first length of stroke and a second knife which is reciprocably arranged in a plane which is parallel to the first plane and which is arranged immediately below the first knife with respect to the flow direction out of the nozzle, the second knife is arranged with a second stroke length which is smaller than the first stroke length, and a control for producing simultaneous reciprocation of the first and the second knife. Hereby, a shearing is achieved which is more precise and commonly applicable for manufacturing of ice cream portions by an automated production of ice cream products.
Abstract: A viscous material metering system comprises a cutting apparatus comprising a tensioning fork having a main body diverging into extending tines; a cutting wire tensioned between the tines of the fork; and a driving mechanism operatively connected to the tensioning fork to drive the fork and tensioned cutting wire; and a controller controllably connected to the driving mechanism and having a set of instructions to control the driving mechanism to drive the fork to cut a continuous viscous material into portions of a predetermined size or weight for metering to a viscous material compounding system.

Abstract: A Cutting Machine for processing leafy vegetables such as collard greens is provided. The Cutting Machine is adjustable to accommodate vegetables of varying thicknesses. An enclosure with a cover has an input opening in the cover to feed material to be cut between the rollers. An actuating shaft which is rotated includes an offset wheel and an offset shaft. An actuating rod on the offset wheel swings a pivoting knife back and forth to cut the material. An actuating shaft which is connected to the offset shaft moves a roller cog mounted on the drive roller.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an expandable slotted tube fabricated from at least one tubular element and at least two annular elements connected to the opposite ends of the tubular element by means of butt joints wherein axially extending slots are formed at a uniform angular spacing around the periphery of the tube and in longitudinally overlapping relation characterized by cutting said annular elements in a pattern of overlapping positionally fixed slots in accordance with invariable parameters which are pre-determined relative to the dimensions of said annular elements and cutting in said tubular element a pattern of slots that is variable in accordance with measured parameters of the tube so as to achieve the required overlap between said positionally fixed and variable slots. A machine for carrying out the method is also described.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an expandable slotted tube (10) fabricated from at least one tubular element (12, 14) and at least two annular elements (11, 13, 15) connected to the opposite ends of the tubular element by way of butt joints wherein axially extending slots are formed at a uniform angular spacing around the periphery of the tube and in longitudinally overlapping relation characterized by cutting said annular elements (11, 13, 15) in a pattern of overlapping positionally fixed slots (27, 28, 29, 46, 37, 38, 39) in accordance with invariable parameters which are pre-determined relative to the dimensions of said annular elements (11, 13, 15) and cutting in said tubular element a pattern of slots (30, 45, 47, 40) that is variable in accordance with measured parameters of the tube so as to achieve the required overlap between said positionally fixed and variable slots. A machine for carrying out the method is also described.
Abstract: The severing machine comprises at least a first series of disk-shaped blades (23A; 23B) rotating about their own axis, which series is carried by a moveable support (21) capable of bringing the series of blades alternately into an active zone wherein the cutting of the products takes place and a parking zone. In addition, at least one barrier (41, 43) is provided separating the active zone from the parking zone.

Abstract: Apparatus for use with paper folding or other machines which applies a line of perforations on the paper sheets at selected locations and for controlled distances while the paper sheet is travelling through the machine.
Abstract: A novel dough feeding, cutting and depositing apparatus is provided herein. It includes a pivotally-mounted feed tray. Means are provided on the feed tray for gripping a continuous dough sheet and for advancing it forwardly along the feed tray to the downstream end of the feed tray. Means are provided for cutting a discrete sheet of dough from a continuous dough sheet overlapping the end of the feed tray, and for depositing such discrete sheet of dough on a sheet of dough tray station. Means are provided for moving the upstream end of the feed tray upwardly to its maximum "up" position for the duration of the time the continuous dough sheet is being advanced forwardly along the feed tray. Means are provided for moving the upstream end of the feed tray downwardly to its maximum "down" position for the duration of the time the means for cutting is effecting the cutting of the continuous dough sheet into a discrete sheet of dough.
Abstract: A pelletizer blade for use with an underwater extruder-pelletizer is disclosed which includes an impeller surface that keeps the water away form the die face when cutting to prevent uneven cooling of the die face and extruded material. The blade includes a solid rectangular body having an impeller surface extending therefrom and normal thereto. The impeller surface is at a slight angle in the direction of rotation and includes a cutting edge on the side mounted adjacent to the die face.
Abstract: A continuously fed tube is momentarily halted at a cutting station and quickly cut by a rotating knife. The tube is continuously advanced from driving rollers to idler rollers and passes through interemdiate pinch rollers which are cam controlled in synchronism with the cutting process to bow the tube at a rate which causes the tube portion at the cutting station to briefly stop during cutting. The cutter includes a planetary gear set having a carrier rotatable about a central axis which carries a knife for rotation about another axis while it revolves about the central axis. The knife makes many rotations per carrier revolution but is in position to cut the tube during one of the rotations.
Abstract: A machine for forming, continuously, distinct portions of smokeless tobacco in a pouch or pocket form, and continuously forming a chain of individual pouches containing the distinct portions of smokeless tobacco, cutting each pouch from a string of pouches, counting out a pre-set number of pouches for filling a container with the pre-set number of pouches with a set moisture content; further indexing each container relative to its production cycle, including means for rejecting improperly filled containers based on improperly filled individual or a plurality of pouches, closing each container with a lid, and pneumatic and other control means for controlling the production cycle of the machine.

Abstract: Two fixed blades are provided at substantially right angle with each other with a juncture line thereof being in the transverse direction and opposite to the terminal end of a feeding conveyor passage of a sheet material to be cut. Two movable cutter blades are also provided at substantially right angle with each other opposite to the fixed blades in such a manner that one cutter blade coacts with one fixed blade and the other cutter blade coacts with the other fixed blade to cut the sheet material at substantially right angle with respect to the plane of the sheet material. The two movable cutter blades are made to alternately advance and retreat at a predetermined timing.
