With Means Providing For Plural Steps In Clamping Stroke Patents (Class 83/379)
  • Patent number: 6758122
Abstract: A guard assembly for a compound miter saw includes an upper blade guard assembly, a lower blade guard assembly having a movable guard pivotally mounted in the upper blade guard assembly and a linkage assembly. The lower blade guard is pivotally mounted in the upper blade guard assembly. The linkage assembly including an inner link pivotally interconnected with the movable guard and the upper blade guard assembly controls the movement of the guard. A lock release mounted on the upper blade guard assembly locks the movable guard in position.

  • Publication number: 20030115999
Abstract: The present invention discloses a log sawing system comprising multiple cutting blades. The multiple cutting blades are positioned to cut laterally or perpendicular to the centerline of the log which is to be cut. The logs are transported into cutting position using some type of log positioner. The multiple cutting blades are rotatably mounted on an arm which is pivotally mounted on a shaft in groups, being driven by an electrical or like motor, all of which are mounted onto a platform positioned adjacent to the log to be cut. Hydraulic lifters are used to partially rotate the saw blades into the cutting position adjacent the log. Means utilizing a computer and lasers are provided to develop a log cutting solution to best utilize the logs.

  • Patent number: 4836074
Abstract: A guillotine type cutting machine for stacks of paper sheets has a table which supports the stock to be cut and a knife which can sever the stock in a vertical cutting plane. A feeding unit is provided to advance the stock along the table across the cutting plane, and a hold-down device is provided at the cutting plane to engage and press upon the stock opposite the descending knife while the stock is being severed. This hold-down device further serves to bear upon the stock during expulsion of air from the stock preparatory to the first cutting step. The air expelling unit has a roller which is lowered onto the stock adjacent the hold-down device and is then moved along the stock toward the feeding unit to expel air from pockets between the sheets. A cover is placed between the roller of the air expelling unit and the stock so that the roller need not directly engage the topmost sheet of the stock.

  • Patent number: 4383458
Abstract: In the film cutter of this invention, a cutter carriage is guided by a guide rod of a circular cross section allowing it to make both a translational motion along the guide rod and a tilting motion about the guide rod, whereby a rotary blade mounted on the cutter carriage is assured of a close contact with a fixed linear blade irrespective of the thickness of the film to be cut for always attaining a satisfactory cutting action. And a film holder working in synchronism with the cutter carriage allows a roll of film to be cut into specified lengths in a sequential manner.

  • Patent number: 4356054
Abstract: A foil-section feeder in a laminating system includes a slicing assembly which clamps a web at a pair of spaced locations and subsequently cuts the web along a transverse line between the two clamps. A transport device in the form of gripper tongs is inserted into a gap in the slicing assembly to grip a leading end of the web and to draw the web from a roll past the slicing assembly to a predetermined position at a stacking or laminating station.

  • Patent number: 4245532
Abstract: A shear machine for irradiated nuclear fuel elements has a replaceable shear assembly comprising a fuel element support block, a shear blade support and two clamp members which hold the fuel element to be sheared in contact with the support block. A first clamp member contacts the fuel element remote from the shear blade and a second clamp member contacts the fuel element adjacent the shear blade and is advanced towards the support block during shearing to compensate for any compression of the fuel element caused by the shear blade.
