The micrometer adjust includes a thimble screw having 1/6020 (one minute) increments with one full revolution of the thimble screw adjusting the angle of the sine bar by 1/40 (15 minutes). Also, the guide bar includes 0.degree., 3 3/4.degree. and 7 1/2.degree. offset threaded openings for receiving an angle hole lock shoulder bolt which passes through the protractor and into the guide bar. Hence, the miter device can be set at selected precise 15.degree., 7 1/2.degree. and 3 3/4.degree. increments using the angle step-holes, the 0.degree., 3 3/4.degree.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a semiconductor ingot utilizing an inner-diameter saw. The apparatus includes a reference structure positioned on the saw at a predetermined distance from the saw blade and a template having a cut positioning portion and a reference portion separated from the cut positioning portion by a distance corresponding to the predetermined distance. The template is adapted to be placed on the ingot with the cut positioning portion disposed adjacent the desired cut location so that the reference portion establishes a reference position on the ingot. The saw is adapted thereby to cut the ingot at the desired location when the reference position on the ingot is aligned with the reference structure on the saw.

  • Patent number: 5493789
Abstract: A miter gauge and saw blade calibrator is in the form of a flat plate with grooves defined in top and bottom surfaces at various angles. The grooves are sized to receive the bar of a miter gauge so that bar can be elevated above a table slot with its side extending above the slot abutting a side of the groove. The calibrator is slid along the bar toward the miter head until the miter head lays flat against one of the sides of the calibrator on both sides of the bar, to set the angle between the head and the bar equal to the angle between the groove and the corresponding side of the calibrator. Fine angle calibration bars can also be provided between the calibrator and the miter head so as to set smaller or unusual angle increments. In addition, the perimetral edges of the calibrator form different angles so that one edge can be placed against the table top surface of a table saw or other tool and another edge against the blade to accurately set the angle of the blade.

  • Patent number: 5379669
Abstract: A precision miter gauge that consists of a sine-plate assembly mounted on a guide bar for engagement in a conventional table-saw miter slot. The sine-plate assembly comprises a stationary plate substantially perpendicular to the guide bar and a hinged plate pivotally connected to the stationary plate by a hinge pin having an axis of rotation disposed at a predetermined distance from the hinged plate, so as to form a variable angle between the two plates. A gauge block adapted to produce exact predetermined angles is positioned between the stationary plate and a reference pin pivotally coupled to the hinged plate and having an axis of rotation disposed at the same predetermined distance from the hinged plate as the hinge pin's axis. As the gauge block is firmly secured between the reference pin and the stationary plate, the hinged plate provides a solid and precise fence for cutting a workpiece at the selected angle.
