  • Patent number: 10882127
Abstract: A guide block assembly for controlling a saw blade of a band saw during cutting. The assembly includes a mounting part having a rear part adapted for securing the guide block assembly to the band saw frame and a front part for detachably securing a thrust part. The thrust part includes at least two thrust slats detachably secured in the front part of the mounting part. The slats are aligned and spaced apart around a center section of the front part. When using the guide block assembly, vibrations, chattering and heating of the saw blade are substantially reduced, and the production rate and speed are increased. The guide block assembly is typically used for band saws that have a cutting speed of between 1800-6000 m/min, pulley wheels having diameters of 1000-2500 mm, and saw blade widths in the range of 80-360 mm.

  • Patent number: 8544372
Abstract: A cutting device (10) includes a sled (12) guided on a base (14) for reciprocating linear movement along a blade (20) that is supported on the base below the sled and includes an inclined working edge (28) projecting beyond the sled. The sled is manually movable while the blade is held stationary, so that a workpiece supported on the sled is conveyed against and along the working edge for cutting the workpiece. Mechanisms for adjusting the blade height, inclination angle, and bevel angle are also disclosed. Novel saw blades are also disclosed, and preferably include a blade extension extending from the working edge beyond the maximum travel of the sled. The blade extension may remain in the kerf at the end of a cutting stroke, preventing the blade from jamming against the workpiece upon a return stroke and may also provide an unobstructed means by which to gage blade angle relative to the sled.

Abstract: This invention is a work carriage used with a cutting tool's table surface to make straight-line cuts. The device responds to the need for cutting a wide range of angles and positions on workpieces of different sizes and shapes more accurately, consistently, and safely. The invention consists of a main support which rides on a slide attached to the table surface's guide slot using a wedging action to fill the width of the guide slot. Clamps hold the workpiece to the main support along a t-shaped channel. Once set up, the main support moves precisely along the slide parallel to the guide slot and cutting plane. The main support also has threaded holes to attach workpiece stops and a fence, as needed, for making consistent cuts. A secondary support is used to provide the necessary support with a larger workpiece that has a center of mass beyond the main support.

Abstract: A guide bar assembly (10) for use in a T-slot (20) of a woodworking table (22). The assembly includes a top member (12) slidably disposed on a bottom member (14). The top and bottom members include cooperating pairs of wedge shapes (24) that cause a change in width (W) of the assembly in response to relative longitudinal (L) movement between the top and bottom members. Contacting angled side surfaces (30, 32) of the male and female wedge members (26, 28) provide area contact between the top and bottom members that functions to maintain the top and bottom members parallel during tightening of the fasteners (34) used to lock the assembly at a desired width.

Abstract: A cutting workstation which includes a cutter mounted on an arm type configuration. The arm configuration is slidably moveable relative to a divided work piece support table, the cutter moveable there between. Further, the cutter is capable of elevating the arm either above or below the worktable. Not only is the arm capable of being lengthened and shortened, but also it is also of capable of rotation producing a variety of miter cuts. The arm is also capable of rotating to a vertical axis to produce a chop cut motion. The bifurcated table or work piece support is capable of being rotated through a number of degrees relative to the cutter also producing mitered or angled cuts. The bifurcated worktable is also capable of being elevated above or below or at the level of the cutter. The cutter, if in the form of a circular cutter blade, is preferably provided with the conventional pivotal spring-loaded blade guard.
