  • Patent number: 5740710
Abstract: Device for cutting sheets of material, with a counter (12) for the material to rest on, a blade to cut the material, and a holdfast (11) that can be lowered onto the material by a mechanism (10) and raised off it by a spring (6). When the spring in such a device breaks, the holdfast can drop and injure the operator. The object is to prevent such injuries. An interceptor (7, 8, & 9) accordingly brakes the holdfast when the spring that raises it is broken.

  • Patent number: 4892020
Abstract: A wall-mounted support system for a sheet-cutting machine employs a workpiece clamping unit, and a set of rack units to provide endwise support for the workpiece. The clamping unit is comprised of confronting, elongated members of U-shaped cross section, connected by pairs of identical pivot arm components which are, in turn, assembled with pins that provide bearing elements. The rack units incorporate leveling bars, the attitudes of each of which is adjusted by use of an eccentric fixture.

  • Patent number: 4815350
Abstract: A circular saw machine has a workpiece support and a clamping means consisting of a clamping arm and a clamping block for clamping workpieces; the clamping means is displaceable and clampable in a shaped groove with the aid of sliding members. The sliding members have first inclined faces and slide on corresponding second inclinded faces of the clamping block. Their slide movement may be initiated by means of a screw spindle connecting the two sliding members. When the sliding members slide upwards the clamping means is firmly clamped in the shaped groove. When they slide in the opposite direction clamping is released.

  • Patent number: 4519280
Abstract: A device for making miter cuts in workpieces includes a saw guide pivoted to either a bottom surface B or a top surface A of a board. The saw guide includes two plates spaced above the board surfaces by a pivot assembly and a swing assembly. Almost any commercially available circular power saw may be accommodated by placing the saw base on the plates, positioning the saw blade within alignment slots in the assemblies, and adjusting rails on the plates against the saw base. A keeper on one of the rails prevents the saw from jumping out of the saw guide. When the rails are properly adjusted, the circular saw blade will travel along a saw line between the plates from alignment slot to alignment slot. The top surface A of the board has a straight edged backup adjacent a planar work area. 90.degree. and 45.degree. stops on the top surface reliably and accurately position the saw line normal to or at a 45.degree. angle to the straight edge and aligned with 90.degree. and 45.degree. slots in the backup.

  • Patent number: 4283977
Abstract: A motor operated circular miter chop saw is pivotally mounted on a generally horizontal axle pivot bolt about which it rotates in a vertical plane with the axle pivot bolt being carried by a cast support base structure. Angular orientation of the work-piece is provided by an angularly adjustable fence rotatably carried by the cast base support structure. Clamping means are also provided selectively mountable with the cast support base to provide hold-in clamping action for holding a work-piece against the fence or mountable with the fence to provide hold-down clamping action for holding a work-piece against the cast support base.

  • Patent number: 4267756
Abstract: A power shear has a pair of parallel frame plates spaced apart to either side of a fixed blade and a movable blade. The movable blade can be displaced past the fixed blade to shear a workpiece extending across the plane and resting on the fixed blade A holddown plate is slidably mounted in rails on one of the frame plates and has a pair of edges guided by the rails and overreached by teeth formed on these rails. These edges of the holddown plate are formed with notches that can be aligned with the teeth to allow removal of the holddown plate in a direction perpendicular to its plane. A positioning spindle threaded through a nut fixed on the one frame plate can have an enlarged head engaged in a T-shaped cutout of the holddown plate so that when the holddown plate is lifted perpendicularly off the frame plate it is also disengaged from the positioning spindle.

  • Patent number: 4082026
Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder mounted on a frame assembly is communicated with a hand operated pump for actuation thereby. A plurality of punch-die assemblies, to be selectively mounted in the frame assembly for perforating, notching clipping or like operations, each comprise a punch or punches carried by a punch holder constrained to up-and-down motion relative to a die. When placed in the frame assembly, any selected punch-die assembly has its punch holder disposed under a ram connected to the piston of the hydraulic cylinder, so that upon manual activation of the pump, the punch or punches can be forced down to perform a desired operation in cooperation with the die. The punch and die assembly has a presser which urges the workpiece against a lateral side of the punch, and the workpiece can be acted upon at two locations at the same time, one location being directly above the other.
