  • Patent number: 6427570
Abstract: A dust or chip collection and diversion system is provided for a device having a cutting tool for performing a working operation on a workpiece. The position and orientation of the dust-receiving or dust-collecting opening remains constant with respect to the cutting tool regardless of the position or configuration of the device, the device having a movable blade or other cutting tool, thus greatly enhancing the dust collection effectiveness in any of a number of operational configurations. Such position and orientation of the dust-receiving opening is also independent of the movement or position of any adjustable or movable guard or workpiece-supporting fence.

  • Patent number: 6412381
Abstract: A Venetian blind cutting machine comprises a machine stand on which a cutting device and the clamping device are mounted. The cutting device has a blade which moves back and forth to execute the cutting of the Venetian blind. The pivoting center of the blade is higher than the position at which the Venetian blind is arranged. The lower half cutting edge of the blade provides the downward and the inward cutting forces to execute the cutting of the Venetian blind. The revolution rate and the feed rate of the blade are regulated by a controller in accordance with the nature of a material of which the Venetian blind is made.

  • Patent number: 6272958
Abstract: An apparatus for decurling food material, such as slices severed from a food material supply, while the slices are being moved toward a transfer member includes a constriction positioned in close proximity to the slicing station and in general alignment therewith. The constriction is defined by opposing upper and lower surfaces; the upper surface is a stationary surface while the lower surface is a moving surface. The lower moving surface utilizes a plurality of flexible bands rotating around at least one roller, which are disposed proximate to the food material supply. The flexible bands are driven around a guide member having an arcuate profile that matches the curvature movement that the food material supply takes. The bands which form the lower moving surface are driven at a speed equal to or greater than the speed at which the slicer operates.

  • Patent number: 6250190
Abstract: An adjustable rip fence for a machine tool has a fence which is movable with respect to the cutting tool due to a rack and pinion. The rail assembly supporting the fence include a pair of stationary rails which are secure to the machine tool. A movable rail telescopically engages each stationary rail and the movement of each rail is accomplished by the rotation of a pair of pinion gears each of which engages a respective rack on the movable rails. The simultaneous rotation of the pinion gears is the result of both pinion gears being secured to a common pinion shaft which is rotatably secured to the machine tool. The telescoping nature of the rails allows for adjustment of the fence beyond the working surface of the machine tool.

  • Patent number: 6240822
Abstract: A novel precise, multiple indexing jig used in conjunction with power tools, especially a power saw, is disclosed. The jig includes a longitudinal indexing rod that precisely locates and supports by pivotal articulation, a plurality of swing arms. The swing arms can be rotated onto the table and used as stops to assist in positioning a work piece on the device that is to be worked at a specific location, such as the cut length for a saw. When they would be in the way of a work piece, they can be rotated away from the table. The indexing rod is positioned parallel to a guide fence that also locates the work piece. A series of location supports are also located on the indexing rod and further support the swing arms. An alternative embodiment enables the guide fence to also index with the swing arms, thereby increasing the structural stability of the swing arms when they are positioned as stops.
