Abstract: A compound miter saw includes a table on which a workpiece is placed, a miter saw unit supporting a saw blade, and a housing pivotally supporting the miter saw unit related to the table in such a manner that the miter saw unit is at least laterally pivotable. Further, the miter saw includes a bevel mechanism for selectively determining the lateral position of the miter saw unit at any of a plurality of pivoted positions, including a vertical position where the saw blade is positioned substantially vertically relative to the table, and leftward and rightward pivoted positions where the blade is inclined laterally leftwardly and laterally rightwardly from the vertical position. The bevel mechanism includes a movable rod and three fixed stop members, the rod being operable to move between a first rod position abutting one of the fixed stop members and a second rod position not abutting the one of the fixed stop members so as to permit the lateral pivotal movement of the miter saw unit.

  • Patent number: 6820524
Abstract: A machine tool has a work table which defines a working surface and has a cutting tool which is attached to and movable with respect to the work table. The position of the cutting tool with respect to the working surface is controlled by a mechanism which elevates the cutting tool with respect to the working surface and angulates the cutting tool with respect to the working surface. The cutting tool is mounted to a support plate which is pivotably attached to the work table. The elevating mechanism includes a threaded rod and a nut which engages a pivoting link. The pivoting link also engages the cutting tool. Rotation of the threaded rod pivots the link which in turn raises and lowers the cutting tool. A spring biases the cutting tool towards its lower position to remove play between the components. The angulating mechanism includes a lever, two cams and a locking rod. Rotation of the lever moves the locking rod longitudinally due to the action between the two cams.

  • Patent number: 6820527
Abstract: A table saw includes a suspension rod having a bottom face formed with a flattened face, and a motor gear box rotatably mounted on the suspension rod and having a top face formed with a recess. When the motor gear box touches the suspension rod, the flattened face of the suspension rod is received in the recess of the motor gear box, thereby reducing the vertical distance between the rotation shaft of the circular blade and the work table, so that the height of the circular blade protruding outward from the work table is increased, thereby increasing the cutting height of the circular blade, so that the circular blade may be used to cut a workpiece having a larger thickness, thereby increasing the cutting efficiency of the table saw.

  • Patent number: 6539830
Abstract: In preferred embodiments the invention includes a transverse board conveyor, a board extrusion portion, a marking station a sawing portion, and one or more board feeding portions, all of which are controlled by a process controller. In such, preferred embodiments, one or more stacks of boards are serially fed onto the transverse board conveyor and are conveyed in a direction transverse to the length of the boards. The boards are individually deposited into an elongate receiver of a board extrusion portion to be conveyed longitudinally. A carriage in the receiver transports the boards past an end detection station, past a marking station, and to a sawing station. The carriage has a moveable clamping member which pinches the board between a wall of the receiver and the clamping member. The carriage moves down the receiver with the board clamped thereto conveying the board in a longitudinal direction to position the board in a desired position for sawing the board.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catch structure of a rotary cover plate of a circular sawing machine. A rotary cover plate is rotatably mounted on an upper blade guard of a circular sawing machine, to cover a semi-circular hole of the upper blade guard. A lower blade guard is pivoted on the rotary cover plate, so that the lower blade guard may be rotated relative to the rotary cover plate. The rotary cover plate has an inner side protruded with a first catch end which may be stopped and positioned on a side wall of the semi-circular hole. The rotary cover plate has an outer side protruded with a second catch end which may be stopped on a lug of a bottom edge of the lower blade guard.

  • Patent number: 6520059
Abstract: A compound miter saw includes a table on which a workpiece is placed, a miter saw unit supporting a saw blade, and a housing pivotally supporting the miter saw unit related to the table in such a manner that the miter saws unit is at least laterally pivotable.

  • Publication number: 20030000359
Abstract: A table saw includes a work support table that defines a blade slot therethrough and at least one guide groove oriented generally parallel to the slot. A pair of trunnions are attached to the lower surface of the work support table, with at least one of the trunnions defining an adjustment opening having opposing sides. A cradle assembly has a blade mounted therein driven by a motor, and it is supported by the trunnions such that at least a portion of the blade extends through the slot in the work support surface. To provide adjustment of the blade heel, an adjustment member is received by the adjustment opening in the trunnion and is rotatably attached to the lower surface of the work support table. Rotation of the adjustment member causes the adjustment member to contact one of the opposing sides of the adjustment opening, thus moving the trunnion to adjust the position of the blade relative to the guide groove.

Abstract: A compound miter saw includes a unique table assembly which incorporates a table locking mechanism and a detent overide mechanism. The lock mechanism incorporated into the table assembly is movable between two positions. The first position locks the table to the miter saw and the second position permits rotation of the table. The detent overide mechanism is normally engaged such that it will releasably hold the table in one of a plurality of popular miter angles. The detent overide mechanism allows the operator to disengage the detent system to avoid the holding of the table during its rotation.
