  • Patent number: 8875610
Abstract: A kerf lock is provided for the retention of die cutting dies in die slots of a retaining board. A retaining system is also provided and includes a plurality of lock slots oriented substantially perpendicularly to a direction of insertion of a die cutting die. The lock slots have open faces to permit communication with the die slots. When the kerf lock is located within a lock slot it extends into the die slot until a die is inserted into the die slot. Upon initial insertion of a die into the die slot, the kerf lock compresses laterally. Once the die is completely inserted, the kerf lock exerts a normal force against the die in the direction of the die slot wall opposite the open face. An inserted die cutting die can thus be securely held within the die slot.

Abstract: The equipment for cutting a corrugated fin is capable of sufficiently cutting a corrugated fin having high ribs. The equipment comprises: a movable blade moving into a rib of a corrugated fin and cutting the corrugated fin; and a fixed blade being fixed on the opposite side of the corrugated fin from the movable blade, the fixed blade cutting the rib with the movable blade. A tip section, which has a cutting face capable of cutting the rib with the fixed blade, is provided to a front end of the movable blade. A supporting block supports one of outer faces of the rib, which corresponds to the tip section of the movable blade, and is biased upward, thereby the supporting block is moved downward together with the cut rib, which has been cut and pushed downward by the movable blade, with continuously supporting the outer face of the cut rib.

  • Patent number: 6749352
Abstract: A printer includes a cutting apparatus with a shield that protects the cutting part of a cutter blade in the apparatus. A fixed blade is supported so that the fixed blade can be moved by pressure by a compression coil spring upon a fixed blade supporting frame attached to a body frame so that the fixed blade supporting frame can be opened or closed. A blade cover for protecting the cutting part of the fixed blade is fixed to the fixed blade supporting frame. When each fitting between fitting parts of the fixed blade and touching parts of a cutter frame is released in a state in which the fixed blade supporting frame is open, a part or the whole of the cutting part of the fixed blade is shielded by the shielding part of the blade cover.

  • Patent number: 6732619
Abstract: A cutter mechanism for use in a printer. The cutter mechanism includes a base and a cutter blade slidably fixed relative to the base. The cutter blade is movable along a cutting path in a first direction between a retracted position and a forward position through a cutting position. A breaker bar is fixed relative to the cutter blade, and is spaced from the cutter blade when the cutter blade is in the retracted position to define a web path between the breaker bar and the base. A first biasing member urges the blade in a second direction away from the breaker bar to completely disengage the blade from the breaker bar. The second direction is not parallel to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 5749277
Abstract: The present invention features a cutting mechanism for a receipt-printing machine, which has paper dispensed from a paper-supply roll. The cutting mechanism has a "v"-shaped, guillotine blade that is held in a blade holder. The blade is driven via the blade holder against a stationary blade and into cutting contact with a paper web containing receipt indicia. The paper web is dispensed from a paper-supply roll located within the printer. A displaceable cover is provided to allow for convenient paper loading and, occasionally, paper jam clearing. There is a blade guide which has side mountings for guiding at least one end tab of the guillotine blade into perpendicular contact with the paper web. The guillotine blade is driven through the blade guide into cutting contact with the paper by a drive cam. The drive cam rotatively engages the blade holder, providing the blade with a forward thrust. The cam is driven by a motor-driven gear train that has a timing gear.

  • Patent number: 4277996
Abstract: The present apparatus applies force along a line or to a surface through one or more linear or rather longitudinal, elastically expandable or deformable members. The expansion of the elongated member, such as an elastic, reinforced hose or membrane, is transmitted to the tool proper, for example, a strip steel knife or a clamping device, along the entire length of the tool, whereby a linear force application is achieved. Several of such members may be arranged in parallel to obtain substantially a surface area force application. The force application member may also be curved for applying the force, such as a cutting force to an equally curved tool such as a strip steel knife. The force application member is returned to its starting position after a work stroke is completed. The work stroke is performed by expanding the member with the aid of a medium under pressure. The return is accomplished by a spring force or by a similar expansion member.
