  • Patent number: 7325472
Abstract: A fixed cutter is provided on a top surface of an adsorption type carrying belt that carries a film. A cylindrical cutter holder having a rotary cutter is provided in the vicinity of the fixed cutter. The fixed cutter has nearly a triangular cross section, and includes an inclined surface that guides the film on the top surface of the belt to a blade edge and a flank relief having nearly a V-shaped cross section. A blade edge of the rotary cutter is disposed at an offset position. The film is cut by a relative operation of the blade edges while rotating the rotary cutter with respect to the fixed cutter. Both of the cutters are installed in a cutter unit, and are fixed to a frame part of a packaging machine while performing positional adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5271302
Abstract: For the cutting of a web a circular cutter is journaled rotatably in a slide which is moved along the cutting line by means of a linear drive. The cutter has a disk-shaped base body journaled freely rotatable which upon its perimeter is provided with pointed cutting blades angled in the sense of rotation. The distance of the base body from the web is chosen such that only the cutting blades but not the base body penetrate the web. Furthermore, the cutting blades are so fashioned and arranged that upon their penetration of the web to the maximal depth of penetration, an uncut portion remains between two cutting blades which upon exit of the subsequent cutting blades is severed by their leading cutting edge.

A form of punch press is used with an upper ram and lower platen and a tray moves in and out horizontally between the ram and platen. On the tray is a die with slitter blades over which is placed a stack of plastic film sheets. The tray moves in and the ram presses down on the sheets, cutting slits through the stack. Then the tray moves out and the stack of slitted sheets is removed. A single operator can produce 450 slitted sheets per minute with this system.

  • Patent number: 4388847
Abstract: Envelopes are opened by standing each envelope on an edge thereof in a guide channel and moving the envelope on edge along the channel into and through a cutting zone where one or more knives being rotated on a flywheel rotor continually move past an anvil and slice off a succession of narrow elongate segments of the border of the envelope. The segments are thrown from the cutter and fall by gravity into a collecting receptacle. Each knife has a cutting edge formed with at least one leading point and with cutting edge portions trailing from the point. Each segment is sliced off by first puncturing the envelope at a point in its border and then slicing it from that point across and along its edge.
