Patent number: 5634387Abstract: A precision cutting assembly comprises a frame, a material support table mounted to the frame and a cutting blade for cutting sheet stock material. A cutting blade carrier is mounted to the frame for movement along a linear path. Pressure producing elements contiguously hold the cutting blade carrier within precise parallel limits of movement along the linear path. The cutting blade carrier causes the cutting blade to accurately cut precision segments from a sheet of material disposed on the material support table. A precision measuring mechanism includes a precision threaded rod member and an indicating element mounted to move along a linear scale upon rotation of the precision threaded rod member. A circumferential scale has a plurality of marks spaced from a circumferential zero point and spaced to indicate a preselected amount of rod member rotation between adjacent circumferential marks.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1994Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Inventor: Richard D. Patent number: 5609081Abstract: A portable round tube cutter has a hollow central shaft through which passes a length of tubing to be cut. A transmission gear jacket is axially slidable along the shaft and rotates with the shaft. A tool chuck has a tubing cutter that is manually movable into the tubing to cut the tubing at a desired location. The tool is fed into and away from the tubing by a manually operable gear engaging the transmission gear jacket to cause axial movement of the jacket along the central shaft. Such axial movement rotates a transmission gear which, in turn, is engaged with a rack on the cutting tool mount to move the cutting tool either towards or away from the tubing. A clamping device is also included to clamp the length of tubing in the desired cutting position.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Inventor: Shoei C. Lin

Patent number: 5279197Abstract: A punching press according to the present invention employs a servo motor as the driving source of the punching operation to achieve fine control, and exhibits a performance which is equivalent to or higher than that of a conventional punching press which employs a hydraulic cylinder. A hammer member which performs the punching operation is coupled to a stroke member which performs a stroke motion. The stroke member is coupled to a motion converting unit which converts the rotational motion of a servo motor into a stroke motion.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1992Date of Patent: January 18, 1994Assignee: Mechtro Joban International Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shinya Takeda, Kazuo Saegusa

Patent number: 5123342Abstract: The present invention concerns a mechanical, low-noise press, particularly of the screw type, comprising a tup-bearing ram connected with a driving screw, rotatably connected with a lead nut, which is integrally fixed on the frame supporting the press. The press also comprises sealing means which define, together with the mating surfaces of the screw and of the lead nut, a chamber, having a pre-determined volume, adapted to collect an incompressible medium, such as a lubricating oil, and a circulation mechanism in order to maintain within the chamber a controlled delivery of the medium, which delivery insures the presence of a constant spacing film of medium between the mating surfaces during the operation phase of the press, so as to prevent the direct contact between the screw and the lead nut, thereby absorbing the vibrations and the collisions generated by their interaction.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1989Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Assignee: Vaccari S.p.A.Inventor: Roberto Camossi

Patent number: 5104350Abstract: An apparatus includes a support base, the support base including a top and bottom wall arranged in a parallel relationship, with the top wall including a lower track, with an upper track spaced from the lower track in a parallel confronting relationship to receive a slide plate therewithin. The slide plate cooperates with a portal opening directed through a guide flange extending coextensively between the upper and lower guide tracks, with the slide plate including a cutting edge defining an acute included angle between the lower track and the cutting edge directed past the portal to effect a cutting procedure. A support tray mounting a handle, with wheel members mounted to the base adjacent the lower wall effects ease of transport and manipulation of the apparatus. A modification of the invention includes a fluid chemical receiving sponge mounted within and above the portal to receive a fluid chemical from an overlying reservoir to effect anesthesizing of the associated animal prior to a cutting procedure.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1991Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Inventors: Sean C. Patent number: 5018417Abstract: The graphic tape slicer comprises a frame having a feed guide at the rear end for receiving the graphic tape from a roll. A cutting blade is mounted in the center of the frame on a traveling blade holder that engages a threaded rod. Rollers through which the tape is extracted are mounted on the front of the frame. The extraction rollers are joined by a pulley arrangement to the threaded rod. When the graphic tape is extracted from the slicer, the front drive rollers rotate which, through the action of the pulleys, causes the threaded rod to rotate. This causes the blade to move along the threads of the threaded rod. This movement effects the cutting blade to move across the width of the graphic tape causing a resulting length of graphic tape being cut at an oblique angle. By disengaging the pulley arrangement, the blade can be positioned in a fixed location along the length of the threaded rod which will result in a straight cut along the length of the graphic tape.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1989Date of Patent: May 28, 1991Inventor: Larry V.
