Abstract: There is provided a punching unit having a structure permitting to reduce a force required for punching, permitting to lessen parts and permitting to punch holes through a member to be perforated at arbitrary positions thereof. The punching unit has a holder that holds one or plurality of sets of punches and dies. The holder is movable in an array direction in which a plurality of holes to be perforated through the member is arrayed. An eccentric cam is disposed above the holder in parallel with the array direction. The punches within the holder are driven toward the dies by rotating the eccentric cam regardless of moving positions of the holder. Thus, the punching unit can perforate a number of holes greater than the number of punches held within the holder by sequentially moving the holder and by rotating the eccentric cam.

Abstract: A punch, in which two operations, e.g., the movement of a head 1 along a rail 4 and the vertical movement of a punch 32 are carried out by the rotation of a slide transmission shaft 2 is provided, so that the bad influence of the inertia of the head 1 is suppressed, and the high speed operation is realized to thereby enhance the punching operation. The punch of the present invention comprises, a slide transmission shaft 2 to engage with a head 1, a driving member 28 having concentrically a helical cam 281 consisting of a helical portion and a vertical portion on its outer circumference and a punch driving gear, a rack 31 being parallel with the slide transmission shaft 2 and having teeth of the pitch identical with the pitch of the helical cam 281, while being engaged with the rack 31, and a punch driven gear 30 being rotated while being engaged perpendicularly with the punch driving gear 29 and having a pin 361 to be engaged with a rectangular hole 331 of the punch driving member 29.

  • Patent number: 5775191
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for converting a roll of material into various products such as curtains, draperies, valances, or the like. Specifically, the apparatus includes a roll let off for supporting and feeding a roll of material or cloth. After the let off, the edges of the cloth are cut if desired and are engaged by a pair of edge folding and positioning stations for forming vertically folded edges. The folded edges are then converted into hems and sewn into the material by a pair of corresponding hem sewing heads and cloth advancers. Once vertical hems are formed in the cloth, the cloth is cut to predetermined lengths and if desired, folded in a predetermined pattern. The folded pattern can then be transported to a sewing station for further sewing the material into a desired product.

  • Patent number: 5678468
Abstract: The disclosed punching unit transforms the vertical motion of a press into a horizontal punching motion by means of two wedges inside the unit body, the down motion of the upper wedge determining the horizontal displacement of the lower wedge, the unit being provided with a return mechanism and with a locking sensor for stopping the unit. It has gas dampers or metal springs, and in one embodiment, the unit is mounted on a base plate which is larger than the plant, and which is aligned with the clamping plate, thereby providing anti-rotation in collaboration with the internal anti-rotation structure.

  • Patent number: 4867022
Abstract: A device for producing perforations in a flexible rack. With mechanical drive systems a "rack" is a linear element used with a rotary element whereby linear and rotary motions are displaced. The flexible rack processed by this invention consists of a tape having a cross-sectional curvature. It is thin, rigidly straight, resilient and used for "interconverting" (mutually converting or equally displacing) linear and rotary motions. A method is taught for perforating a rack along its length. Perforations are produced whil the rack is bent radially and flattened laterally corresponding to a position with which the rack will be used when "interconverting linear and rotary motions.
