  • Patent number: 6755106
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for die-cutting a stack of sheet-like materials, particularly labels, whereby the stack is pressed into the die-cutter blade by a relative movement of a punching ram and a hollow cylindrical die-cutter blade. For such a device, it is proposed that the stack (8) to be punched be positioned between a limiting element (88) and a moveable slide-in unit 21 is positioned against a stop (89), and the limiting element (88) and the stop (89) are moveable. This type of construction of the die-cutting device ensures an optimal positioning of the stack in area of the pinching ram, independent of varying stack sizes.

  • Patent number: 6722245
Abstract: There will be provided a punching unit capable of reliably drawing a punch out of the workpiece, improving the productivity and without deteriorating the boring precision even for a workpiece which easily spreads, and preventing leavings rising. A stripper plates which has been positioned close to the workpiece in accordance with the thickness thereof does not press the workpiece, but draws the punch during rising out of the workpiece to transmit the striking driving force of the electric motor to the movable die holding the punch. In an air path portion arranged within the machine frame, there is provided means for opening or closing through an electric signal and the air path between the air ejecting unit and the means is made shorter, whereby the response to air ejection is improved, the pressure loss during air flow is reduced to a minimum, and jet air is accurately applied to punching chips (leavings) which adhere to the punch at the bottom dead center for peeling off the punch.

  • Patent number: 6688205
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting assembly for use in thin and ultrathin web winding stations. It also relates to a method for cutting a web using this cutting assembly. According to the invention, the web (1) is cut by a blade (30) with a cutting edge transverse to the web transfer direction; the blade moves between a rearward position and a forward position; in the forward position, the cutting edge is substantially parallel to an axis of the roll (7) receiving the web, and the blade is substantially tangent to a surface of the roll. For cutting the web, the blade is moved from its rearward position to its forward position, so that its speed at the time it engages with said web is at least substantially equal to the speed of the web. This ensures a clean and clear cut of the web. At the same time, it ensures that the leading edge of the web is smoothly and evenly placed on the roll, without any creasing nor folding of the web.

  • Patent number: 6487949
Abstract: A bale processor for cutting or dicing a bale or slab of unvulcanized rubber produces small cubes or blocks of a predetermined size and uniform shape for continuous feeding at a predetermined rate into a mixing machine or blender. A bale or slab of feedstock rubber is advanced incrementally along a slider platform and a segment is sliced from the leading end of the bale. After separation, the segment falls onto a receiving panel from which it is transferred by a vacuum pick-up head to a vacuum hold-down table. Multiple slices are then formed through the segment along the X-axis by circular cutting blades of an X-axis cutter head, thereby forming elongated segment strips. Next, multiple slices are formed through the segment strips in the Y-direction by a Y-axis cutter head which includes circular cutter blades that are extendable and retractable along the Y-axis.

Abstract: A press for forming a workpiece with a tooling set includes an actuator assembly carrying a movable half or punch of the tooling set and having a two phase operation. In the first phase the actuator provides relatively low force in moving the punch to an intermediate position in close proximity to the workpiece. A sensor detects the position of the punch, and when the punch reaches the intermediate position provides a continue signal. The second phase of actuator operation is conditioned on occurrence of the continue signal, and uses normal high force to press the movable tooling half against the workpiece to complete the operation. The low force first phase allows obstructions of any kind to stop movement of the punch during the first phase before high force applied to the actuator may cause damage or injury to the obstruction. In a preferred embodiment the actuator assembly has hydraulic operation.

The unit is activated by pulsing an electric solenoid valve controlling a supply of compressed air of a known pressure to move the plunger/cutting tool. The body of the pneumatic cylinder is vented at a known position relative to the overall stroke of the plunger to relieve the pressure without an exhaust at the driving air admission end.
