Patent number: 9533426Abstract: For precise alignment of the punch stamps relative to the cutting plates, the respective punch stamp is supported in a floating manner, i.e., in a transversely movable manner, on the head plate associated with the punch stamp. The alignment of the cutting edges of the punch stamp with respect to the cutting edges of the cutting plate is accomplished by at least one stamp guide arrangement that is directly active between the punch stamp and the cutting plate and effects precise relative positioning in a direction transverse to the active cutting edges. The centering elements may extend from the punch stamp through the matrix or cutting plate. Alternatively, the centering elements may extend from the cutting plate through the openings of the punch stamp or extend along sliding or positioning surfaces of the punch stamp.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2013Date of Patent: January 3, 2017Assignee: GROZ-BECKERT KGInventors: Kuno Horn, Ernst Heinemann

Publication number: 20100229701Abstract: A multiple punch and multiple die assembly has a workpiece protector comprising a punch lifter that is operatively associated with each punch for supporting each of the punches in an inactive position as an active punch is moved by the ram to the active, i.e. operating position to thereby eliminate scoring or marking of the sheet material or other workpiece that is being punched. To eliminate the need for hand tools and hand assembly or disassembly, a manually moveable retainer on the punch assembly is provided that can be moved by hand between a punch-releasing and punch-retaining position for holding the punches within the multi-punch assembly during operation. Patent number: 5970748Abstract: Glass gob shearing apparatus having opposed shear blades that reciprocate along generally parallel, opposed horizontal paths to periodically bring the shearing ends of the shear blades into partly overlapping contact with one another, to thereby shear a gob of molten glass from a stream of molten glass flowing downwardly between the shear blades. Contact loads between the shear blades are reduced by placing a shim between one of the shear blades, namely the shear blade that is the lower of the shear blades when they are in contact with each other, to thereby impart a slight downward inclination to such shear blade with respect to the other shear blade. Contact loads between the shear blades are further reduced by resiliently mounting the other shear blade to the blade holder to which it is attached, and this is done by positioning curved spring washers between the other shear blade and the blade holder to which it is attached.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1997Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Owens-Brockway Glass Container Inc.Inventors: George A. Patent number: 5048385Abstract: A punch assembly which may be provided at a punching station in a turret punch press. The punch assembly includes a striker body having a solid portion, and a punch carrier which carries a plurality of individual punches. A selectively actuable stop holds the striker body stationary, allowing the punch holder to be rotated so that a predetermined one of the plurality of punches will underlie the solid portion of the striker body. Patent number: 5042345Abstract: The vertically reciprocal upper blade assembly of a sheet metal squaring shear is activated in a substantially vertical path past a fixed lower blade by means of one or more reciprocal rotary hydraulic actuators. The output drive shaft of the hydraulic actuator(s) is connected to one or more drive straps by an eccentric cam which is keyed to the drive shaft and rotatably received within the straps. The horizontal gap between the upper blade and the lower blade is precisely controlled by suspending the blade supporting gib bracket from pins on the side walls of the apparatus housing and adjustably connecting the gib plate to the pins by eccentric cams. The gib mounting system also provides for adjusting the angle of the upper blade with respect to the lower blade. An improved hold down assembly limits the stroke of the hold down pins to maintain a slight clearance between the hold down pins and the bed surface at all times.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1989Date of Patent: August 27, 1991Assignee: Wysong & Miles companyInventors: Paul F. Patent number: 4690185Abstract: A rim driven circular saw and a drive pinion rotatable about respective ones of a pair of spaced apart parallel axes wherein each of the saw and pinion having projections of gear tooth form about the outer periphery thereof with the teeth of one meshing with those of the other. The teeth on the saw each have a cutting edge set back from the normal intersection of the face and the top land of the teeth. The saw is journalled for rotation on a plate carried by a rigid frame and the plate has a thickness at least no greater than the kerf generated by the saw. The pinion is fabricated from a non-metallic substance such as nylon. Also disclosed is an accumulator type tree felling head incorporating, as the cutting device, a saw of the foregoing type.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1986Date of Patent: September 1, 1987Assignee: Logging Development CorporationInventors: Douglas D. Patent number: 4640166Abstract: A first drive means is provided to an upper turret and a lower turret in such a manner as that the upper turret and lower turret can be synchronously rotated through a turret drive system, and a second drive means is provided to an upper metallic mold and a lower metallic mold in such a manner as that the upper and the lower metallic molds can be synchronously rotated within the respective turrets through a metallic mold drive system, and the metallic mold drive system is connected to the turret drive system through a differential gear mechanism. And, when the turrets are positioned, the second drive means is held stopped and the metallic molds each holding its own dividing angle are rotated within the respective turrets by the first drive means through the differential gear mechanism. The dividing of the angles for the respective metallic molds is carried out through the differential gear mechanism by the second drive means while maintaining the turrets positioned and stopped.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Yamazaki Machinery Works, Ltd.Inventors: Masayoshi Mizukado, Akio Morishita, Yoshihiro Muto

Patent number: 4625605Abstract: A device is provided to automatically adjust the horizontal space between movable and fixed knives of a metal cutting shear. Bellcranks are mounted on opposite sides of the shear frame with first arms in contact with the outboard vertical sides of the movable knife holder and with second arms positioned beneath the opposite outboard ends of the shear hold down clamp. Followers on the hold down clamp make contact with the second arms as the hold down clamp is lowered into clamping engagement with the top surface of a metal strip or plate to be sheared. The followers shift the second arms downwardly causing the first arms to shift the movable knife horizontally toward the fixed knife. The respective lengths of the first and second arms are selected to cause the horizontal shift of the movable knife to be a predetermined fraction of the vertical movement of the second arms to provide the correct clearance between knives for the determined thickness of the strip about to be sheared.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1982Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: John R. Patent number: 4541405Abstract: A machine for cutting a block of stone so as to form a precision straight edge about its perimeter. The machine comprises a stationary base which supports a back-up member which serves as an anvil. Reciprocally mounted on the base is an inside upright assembly which may be raised or lowered by a suitable drive mechanism. Pivotally secured to the inside upright assembly above the anvil is a head member supporting an elongated blade assembly, the blade assembly adapted to be actuated by one or more hydraulic rams disposed in the head assembly and at generally opposite ends of the blade assembly. A block of stone to be cut is positioned on the anvil. The tiltable head assembly is then rotated about its pivot line to direct the action of the upper blade. The blade assembly is lowered so as to be positioned slightly above the upper surface of the stone. By selectively activating one or the other of the power rams, the blade is made to pass through the block of stone in a scissors-like action.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1980Date of Patent: September 17, 1985Assignee: Park Tool CompanyInventor: Thomas L.
