Work Holding Means Includes Actuator Patents (Class 83/721)
  • Patent number: 7313993
Abstract: A feed device (1) for a microtome, in particular for a cryostat microtome, for setting the cut thickness of the specimen (2) to be sectioned, is described. In order to set the cut thickness, either the cutting knife or the specimen holder (3) is mounted on a slide (8) in a slide guide (4) and is connected non-positively to a drive motor (5). The drive motor (5) is connected either to an eccentric cam (6) or to a helical cam (7), and the nonpositive connection between the motor (5) and the slide is accomplished via the eccentric cam (6) or the helical cam (7).

  • Patent number: 5216960
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting slices from a foodstuff has a support, a blade on the support extending perpendicular to and rotatable about an axis, and a table adapted to support the foodstuff to be sliced. The table is reciprocated transversely of the axis past the blade and the foodstuff is synchronously periodically shifted on the table axially toward the blade. A guide rail extends transversely of the axis immediately adjacent the blade and carries a holding arm engageable with the foodstuff on the table and displaceable along the rail in a forward direction to press the foodstuff against the table and in an opposite reverse direction. Interengaging formations on the rail and arm prevent movement of the arm in the reverse direction on the guide rail, and a drive including an electric motor connected to the arm displaces same on the rail in the forward direction and disengages the formations and displaces the arm on the rail in the reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4543868
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for holding and advancing the stock to be sliced on a cold meat slicing machine. At the free end of a base mounted pivotably on the carriage for the stock to be sliced and slidably displaceable transversely to the direction of displacement of the carriage, there is likewise pivotably mounted a gripper with at least two fingers protruding from its pivot axis, and one curved, pointed needle protruding from each finger. The gripper furthermore comprises a manual lever by means of which the curved needles may be pressed into the stock to be sliced.

  • Patent number: 4341248
Abstract: A portable sawmill system comprising at least three wheeled, independently movable modules is disclosed. The modules are independently maneuverable to a land site having a ready source of logs to be processed and are arranged in a preselected geometrical configuration adjacent one another and the source of logs. A log from the source is received on the first module and debarked. The debarked log is moved axially and transversely off the first module and onto a second module. A plurality of saw means are carried by the second module to form boards from a log being processed. A third module is located at the output side of the second module and is adapted to receive and further process the boards formed on the second module.

  • Patent number: 4037502
Abstract: A setworks in which a series of additively connected cylinder drives functions to locate a knee means for a desired cut on a log. A setworks in which a vernier adjusting mechanism precisely locates the knee means, which is held in position by an independent stopping means, and wherein while the knee means is so held the vernier mechanism is reset for subsequent full range operation.

  • Patent number: 3958475
Abstract: A slicing machine comprising a rotatable circular cutter blade, a reciprocatable feed carriage to carry stock to be sliced by the cutter blade, and a receiving device to receive slices severed by the cutter blade from such stock. The receiving device is coupled to the feed carriage to be angularly displaced in co-ordination with the reciprocation of the feed carriage and is provided with a plurality of spikes to project from a slice receiving surface of the receiving device by an amount sufficient to enable a plurality of severed slices to be stacked on the receiving device, which is further provided with stripper means to strip such stack of slices off the spikes.
