Patent number: 8474357Abstract: Tomatoes are placed on parallel cutter blades (20) in article openings (46) of an article positioning plate (44). Alternate blades are oscillated in arcuate paths in opposite direction as article pushers (24) move downwardly, pushing the tomatoes through the parallel cutter blades (20). The end slices of the tomatoes are gathered separately in the collectors (96) and are later discarded, while the intermediate slices are received in a transfer plate (78). Gathering plates (100) urge the intermediate slices of the several tomatoes together in one accumulation of tomato slices, and the transfer plate (78) is lowered to a position immediately above the shipping containers (80) and opened to deposit the tomatoes in the shipping containers. A fluid spray nozzle (75) may be positioned to emit a spray of gas or liquid between the fins of the pushers and/or toward the cutter blades (20) and toward engagement with the tomatoes for sterilizing, cleaning, or other treatment of the tomatoes and the adjacent surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2006Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: Maxwell Chase Technologies, LLCInventors: Ivan Stanojevic, William M. Patent number: 4784034Abstract: A saw blade assembly comprises a laminated structure of three side-by-side parallel strips, one two or all of which may have spaced teeth formed along one edge. Where only one strip has teeth, it is sandwiched between the two other strips and the teeth are of triangular shape when seen in plan and are bevelled on both edges to produce pointed tooth tips. Where two strips have teeth, the strips are arranged one on each side of a center strip. Again, the teeth are of triangular shape when seen in side elevation and are contoured to form pointed tips. The roots of the teeth on one strip are spaced laterally from the roots of the teeth on the other strip because of the presence of the center strip. In another form, each strip has teeth along one edge, the assembly thereby providing three parallel, side-by-side rows of teeth. The teeth are of triangular shape when seen in side elevation and are contoured to form pointed tips.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1986Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Kevin Stones, Malcolm J. First and second triangular members, having digging teeth connected to the leading edges thereof, are connected to the housing by three crank assemblies. One of the crank assemblies is coupled to the motor for turning the crank and thereby oscillating the first and second members. One of the crank assemblies is a timing crank for establishing the proper relative movement between the first and second members so that the orbital motion of the first and second members are 180.degree. out of phase.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1975Date of Patent: August 2, 1977Inventor: Marion Edward Hutchison

Patent number: 3994189Abstract: A slicer for tube gels or strips from a slab gel which includes a cutting plate having a plurality of blades in spaced parallel relation extending between the sides of the cutting plate. The spaces between the blades are configured with a cutting edge on one side thereof. The plate is mounted in a holder which is driven by a rotating cam mounted on a drive motor shaft which contacts a cam follower on an arm attached to the cutting plate holder. A pedestal is provided for supporting the gel slab strip or tube gel. The gel is retained laterally on the pedestal by means of retaining vanes on each side of the pedestal. The retaining vanes are urged by springs to extend above the surface of the pedestal. The cutting plate holder is rotatably attached to a framework for mounting the drive motor and the support pedestal so that it may be alternately positioned overlying the pedestal and in a remote position.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1975Date of Patent: November 30, 1976Assignee: Hoefer Scientific InstrumentsInventors: Stanton A. Patent number: 3975975Abstract: A machine for sawing a plurality of spaced L-shaped slots through a stack of paper sheets starting from one edge surface of the stack, which slots are adapted to receive a device for binding the stack of sheets together. The machine includes a plurality of elongated saw blades having cutting teeth all around their peripheries and mounted side by side in spaced parallel relationship. The machine reciprocates the saw blades along their longitudinal axes to afford cutting engagement with the blades by the stack of sheets from any direction normal to the axes of the blades; while moving a planar support surface disposed normal to the axes of the saw blades and to which the stack of sheets is clamped in an L-shaped pattern to engage the stack of sheets with the saw blades and cut the L-shaped slots.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1975Date of Patent: August 24, 1976Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Joe D. Patent number: 3954036Abstract: A combination band saw, scroll saw and jigsaw having multiple blades driven by a common power source through a system of pulleys and belts, the jigsaw and scroll saw of which are activated by means of a belt-activated drive rod and piston rod system. The band saw is carried by a series of pulleys and the combination saw may be operated with all three blades simultaneously in operable position, or, in the alternative, each blade may be activated individually.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1975Date of Patent: May 4, 1976Assignee: James L.
