The carriage assembly permits the entire track assembly to be moved in the X-X axis or longitudinally along the table. The carriage comprises a cylindrical sleeve secured to the end of the track which receives a longitudinal rod mounted to the table by appropriate brackets. The track defines a groove and supports a motor. The motor has a lip engaging the groove so the motor may be moved in the Y-Y axis or transversely of the table. The motor drives a vibrating or oscillatory blade which depends from the motor through the slot. The guide member also depends from the motor and is received in a groove in the subjacent template.

  • Patent number: 4221149
Abstract: Dual, series ball screw and ball nut array for reciprocating a cable and a cutting mechanism utilizing the array. The first ball screw is stationary while the second is moveable, spaced apart and axially aligned with the first ball screw. Ball nuts are rotatably carried on each ball screw and the ball nuts are connected as by a tube. A drive means such as an hydraulic piston activator reciprocates the movable ball screw, thereby translating and rotating the second ball nut likewise the ball nut carried on the stationary ball screw. A pulley on either ball nut or on the connecting tube activates a cable connected thereto. A cutter connected to the cable is thereby reciprocated for slicing action.

  • Patent number: 4114270
Abstract: A butcher's meat saw has a housing from which extends a flat guide plate having an edge along which is slidable a blade reciprocated by an eccentric-type drive mechanism within the housing. Either the edge of the guide or the edge of the blade is formed with a groove and the other edge fits in this groove. One of these edges is furthermore formed with laterally opened notches so as to facilitate cleaning of the saw.

  • Patent number: 3994035
Abstract: Apparatus for use with a pair of thermoplastic strips of the type illustrated in U.S. Pat. No. 3,608,117 wherein one strip is formed with studs longitudinally spaced at intervals and a second strip apertured and counterbored at the same intervals is used to bind sheets apertured at the same intervals at locations spaced inward from one marginal edge is described. A pressure bar is first manually moved to operative position and a handle compresses the strips together by exerting a controlled force on the pressure bar. The handle then initiates movement of a support for a knife consisting of a length of metallic ribbon material having spaced horizontal stretches in horizontal alignment with excess stud lengths of the first strip projecting through the second strip, the ribbon being under tension to hold such stretches taut. As the support moves toward the studs a current is passed through the ribbon, heating it so that the ribbon functions to cut off the excess stud length slightly below the second strip.
