With Work-support And Means To Vary Relationship Between Tool And Work Support Patents (Class 83/781)
  • Patent number: 11826840
Abstract: Method and apparatus for a scroll saw having a base along with an upright hollow frame with a work table attached to the lower frame used to support a workpiece to be cut. The scroll saw includes upper and lower pivotable arms driven by a motor with a saw blade between the pivotable arms. A rotatable member is included in the upright frame member for rotating an upper frame assembly in a horizontal plane. The front portion of the work table can be removed from the scroll saw to access the saw blade and the work table can be automatically leveled. Also the saw blade travels in a true vertical motion and it remains centered during operation to prevent it from creeping forward during operation.

  • Patent number: 8746136
Abstract: A banding device includes a frame. A feeding assembly is mounted on the frame for feeding elastic tubing into the frame. A transfer assembly disposed within the frame includes transfer arm and fingers. The fingers receive the rubber tubing as fed. A cutting assembly is disposed between the transfer assembly and the feeding assembly for cutting the tubing into bands. The fingers of the transfer assembly move between a first closed position for receiving the band and a second open position for opening the band. The transfer arm is moveable between a first position for receiving the band and a second position for transferring the band. A banding assembly disposed at the second position receives the band from the transfer assembly. The banding assembly stretches the band and receives an item to be bundled within the band. The banding assembly releases the band about the bundle.

  • Patent number: 5540130
Abstract: A saw machine includes a base body with rear and front portions. A worktable extends from the rear portion toward the front portion, and has a sawing slot formed therethrough. An upright support arm has an intermediate section pivoted to the rear portion of the base body. An upper hollow arm extends above the front portion of the base body from an upper section of the support arm. A lower hollow arm extends below the front portion of the base body from a lower section of the support arm. A pair of upper and lower levers have rear ends pivoted respectively in the upper and lower hollow arms, and front ends aligned with each other to define cooperatively a straight line that passes through the sawing slot. An elongated saw blade has two ends connected to the front ends of the upper and lower levers so as to pass through the sawing slot.

  • Patent number: 5272948
Abstract: A scroll saw blade holder having a blade support mounted on at least one scroll saw arm. A blade holder frame is pivotally attached to the support and is formed in a generally V-shape for receiving a complementary V-shaped wedge. A first space between a first side of the wedge and the holder allows for the insertion of a scroll saw blade in line with the scroll saw arm and a second space between the wedge and a second side of the holder allows for the insertion of a blade at a 90.degree. angle to the scroll saw arm. A thumb screw inserted through a hole in the wedge and engaging a threaded hole in the holder urges the wedge into the holder, thereby pinching the blade in either of the aforementioned useful positions.

  • Patent number: 5228376
Abstract: A scroll saw includes a hollow elongated base having a vertical sleeve portion at the rear end portion of the base. A hollow shaft is slidably inserted in the sleeve portion. An L-shaped arm member is fixed to the hollow shaft and has a suspending bracket which hangs over the base. A worktable is horizontally above and has a lengthwise extending elongated slot. A guide screw rod has a first end connected to a hand wheel, and a second end vertically passing through the L-shaped arm member and a horizontal plate fixed to the base. Therefore, the L-shaped arm member can be moved up and down by rotating the hand wheel. Parallel driven and driving levers are respectively pivoted to the suspending bracket and the base. An elongated linking member has a first end pivoted to the driven lever and a second end extending into the hollow shaft. A longitudinal hole is formed near the second end of the linking member and has transverse positioning holes connected to the longitudinal hole.

The rotation of the motor drive the universal link to carry the suspension arms and the scroll saw blade to make a sawing motion for cutting something. Because the motor is set in parallel with the suspension arms, the saw bench is permitted to incline leftward and rightward during sawing operation.

Abstract: The improved saw blade suspension device permits adjustment at an angle between (1) 0.degree.-90.degree.; (2) 90.degree.-180.degree.; and (3) 180.degree.-270.degree.. This constitutes a substantial improvement because it permits adjustment according to different directions of the saw blade, and according to each operator who may be left-handed or right-handed. Two clamping sheets are used and only one pin is required for each clamping sheet. The device comprises an upper body and a lower body (1), the upper and lower body having a pair of ears (12), the upper and lower body having at one end a portion (13), holes (14, 15, 16 and 17) located in the front, right side, left side and the rear, a steel pin (11) inserted in the ears (12) through apertures (121, 122). The saw blade (3) is inserted in the holes (14, 17) or holes (15 and 16) and is locked by screws (19), into two holes (18) each of which is located at one end of the body (1).

  • Patent number: 4841823
Abstract: A blade positioner for a scroll saw is disclosed which permits adjustment of the saw blade relative to the pivoting beams or arms of the scroll saw so that the plane movement of the blade is coincident with the blade direction, particularly in the event that the ends of the arms are somewhat misaligned with respect to the plane of travel of the arms due to inaccuracies of the arm pivot bearing locations. Also disclosed is an anti-rattle spring interposed between the work table and work table support so as to minimize rattle of the work table relative to the support in all directions.

Abstract: A scroll saw blade clamp and blade alignment tool to facilitate blade changes while assuring proper positioning and alignment of the blade. The blade clamp is for the upper end of the blade and includes a pair of clamp bars, one of which is pivoted to the upper saw arm. A locking screw clamps the bars together for clamping of the blade, and a strategically located pin prevents relative rotation of the clamp bars and also serves as a blade guide to properly locate the blade while it is being clamped in place. The alignment device takes the form of a flat bar provided with a recess for holding the lower blade clamp. A groove in the bar is centered on the recess to properly align a saw blade received in the groove.

  • Patent number: 4825741
Abstract: A power driven reciprocatory machine tool employs an endless belt trained in tension around spaced end pulleys to transmit reciprocatory movement of a drive attached to one run of the belt to a tool carrier clamped to the opposite run of the belt. The moving elements attached to the opposite runs of the belt counterbalance each other to minimize vibration generated by stroke reversal. In one application, the tool carrier mounts a relatively thin saw blade between spaced upper and lower arms which is employed to saw finely detailed edges on a workpiece manually guided to the blade on a stationary horizontal work table. Clamp means which are tightened by the tension of the blade couple the blade to upper and lower arms of the tool carrier, one of the clamp means being mounted on its arm by a manually adjustable blade tensioning device. The saw, tool carrier and drive may be rotatively adjusted about a horizontal axis to cut inclined or beveled edges on a workpiece supported on the stationary horizontal table.
