    Abstract: An apparatus for slitting a stack of folded corrugated paperboard boxes utilizes a thin slitting blade mounted for continuous movement through a slitting station and defining a vertical slitting plane. A stack supporting table straddles the slitting blade support a stack of boxes in a stand-by position above the blade. Adjustable upstream and downstream squaring devices are operative to square and center the stack in the cutting plane and a vertically reciprocable ram operates to move the stack and the supporting table downwardly past the blade against a table biasing force to slit the stack into two half-size stacks. The squaring device is operable to re-square the slit half-size stacks prior to conveyance out of the slitting station. The slitting run of the continuous blade operates in a rigid blade holder which is adjustable to compensate for blade wear and to maintain the cutting edge of the blade in a fixed plane.

    Abstract: A table-top cutting machine includes a base having an upright support, a motor mounted on the upright support, a belt type cutting tool mounted around a horizontal pulley wheel and a vertical pulley wheel. The cutting tool is stretched at a right angle by a first rotor, which is mounted on the upright support at the top, and a second rotor, which is mounted on the upright support at the bottom. A guard longitudinally covers the belt type cutting tool at one side permitting only the cutting edge to be longitudinally exposed to the outside at one side for cutting. A tool grinder includes two emery-wheels disposed at two opposite sides by the cutting edge. The emery-wheels contact to the two opposite sides of the cutting edge by means of a pressure rod. When the motor is turned on, the belt type cutting tool is rotated to cut cloths smoothly and stably without producing much noise. Furthermore, much cost can be curtailed due to fewer machine elements which are used for manufacturing the present invention.

    Abstract: The invention provides a bandmill having an endless loop of bandsaw blade which is automatically strained to a desired tension, and automatically driven at an accurate location or tracking position. Actual saw strain is automatically detected by a force transducer within the strain mechanism, and the actual saw strain is automatically compared electronically with a desired saw strain. A servo-controller automatically adjusts distance between the wheels to vary force therebetween so that actual saw strain is varied to approach the desired saw strain. Also, actual tracking of the saw blade relative to the wheels is automatically sensed by sensors located adjacent the edge of the saw blade.

A bandsaw blade is formed by twisting the blade 360.degree. before welding the two ends together to form a continuous belt. The combination of the offset rollers and the 360.degree. twist permit the bandsaw blade to follow a more natural path which improves blade life. Rollers may be provided intermediate the drive pulley and top pulley to position the bandsaw blade portions in the same plane. Alternatively one may provide a third or fourth pulley to create a precision saw which can cut tight radii in a workpiece and make sizeable square cuts through stock of any length.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, to make the first cut on a rough log, anchor plates are attached to each end of the log that carry supports for a smooth rigid beam suspended between the supports on which the band saw slide rides to cut a straight flat surface longitudinally along the log.

    Abstract: A fish filleting machine for cutting and separating fish fillets from the central bone section with band saw blades. The machine is designed to require a minimum of non-automatic adjustment in order for the cutter to follow the shape of the hard spinal bone as it cuts through the soft outer layer of fish meat so that a minimum of the fish meat remains on the bone. The machine includes laterally moveable cambered guide wheels to provide a slight, few degree, inner cant or bias to the band saw blades. As the fish to be cut is contacted by the blades, the inwardly directed cant causes the blades to move centrally toward and along the spinal bone, but it is not so canted as to cause the blade to cut into it. The machine includes a variable diameter cam driven means which causes the guide wheels to laterally move into and against the blades providing the desired cant to the band saw blades.

    Abstract: A direct drive vertical powered band saw is disclosed having a frame of formed metal which carries an idler wheel and a drive wheel with an endless blade entrained around these wheels. The drive wheel is carried by and affixed to the rotor shaft of an electric motor so that the drive wheel is driven directly by the motor without any intermediate belt drive or the like. In the preferred embodiment, the drive wheel and the motor are located above the idler wheel so that sawdust falls clear of the motor.     Abstract: An elongated stamped sheet-metal slider member facilitates the alinement and support for the guiding pulley of a band saw. The slider member has several integrally-formed portions. A first portion depends within the housing, and the pulley is rotatably supported thereon about an axis substantially perpendicular thereto. A second portion of the slider member is bent away, forming an obtuse angle with the first portion, and extends through a slotted opening formed in the housing. This second portion has a pair of ears projecting laterally of the slotted opening for preventing the slider from passing completely into the housing. The ears have respective side edge portions engaging the outer surface of the housing and forming therebetween a fulcrum for pivotal movement of the slider member and hence the pulley about an axis which is above the pulley axis and transverse thereto.
