Patent number: 11839926Abstract: The present invention relates to a blade guide and a blade guide assembly for adjusting an elongate blade of a sawmill, where the blade having a longitudinal axis. The blade guide includes a guide with a blade surface for lateral contact with the blade, a shaft extending from the guide, a shaft block having a bore extending therethrough, the bore dimensioned to slidably receive the shaft therethrough, and a trunnion block pivotably coupled to the shaft block about a pivot. The pivot is orientated generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the blade, and the trunnion block is adapted to be securable to the sawmill. Thus, pivoting the shaft block and, thereby, the shaft relative to the trunnion block, causes the guide to pivot and angularly adjust the blade about the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Norwood Industries Inc.Inventors: Ashlynne Dale, Sebastien Cabrit

Patent number: 10207348Abstract: A blade guide for a band saw tool includes an adjustment channel mounted to a blade housing. The adjustment channel has a bracket plate with two recesses at an angle to one another. A roller bracket has a ridge that fits into one or the other recess, the roller bracket including rollers to guide the band saw blade. A single screw holds the roller bracket to the bracket plate. The roller bracket may be moved to the other recess to impart a twist to the blade. The blade is used without a twist when the band saw tool is configured for vertical cutting and is used with a twist when the band saw tool is configured for horizontal cutting.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2016Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Assignee: JPW Industries Inc.Inventors: Steven Myers, Charles Weber

Patent number: 7520202Abstract: A guiding device for guiding movement of a saw blade of a band saw includes a holder base and two saw blade guiding units. The holder base includes a base portion for mounting to the band saw, and two parallel supporting arms. Each of the saw blade guiding units has a sleeve fastened to a transversely extending through hole of one of the supporting arms, a ball rotatably received in the sleeve, and a wheel having a metal wheel shaft with one end inserted into the sleeve and stopped at the ball, and a wheel body made of ceramic material and connected to the other end of the wheel shaft for stopping against one lateral side of the saw blade.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2006Date of Patent: April 21, 2009Assignee: OAV Equipment & Tools, Inc.Inventor: Jacky Wang

Publication number: 20020020274Abstract: A machine for cutting stacked sheet material and like comprising a frame supporting the apparatus, and first and second guideways having first and second fixed guideway members mounted on the frame in a laterally spaced apart relationship, and first and second movable guideway members movably supported by the first and second fixed guideway members and oriented to shift vertically. A knife holder is connected with the first and second movable guideway members adjacent opposite sides thereof, and is configured to be shifted vertically. An actuator is operably connected between the frame and the knife holder for selectively shifting the knife holder vertically. A knife is connected with the knife holder, and includes an edge sharpened for cutting the sheet material when the knife holder is shifted vertically. A pivot bearing rotatably connects the knife holder with at least one of the first and second movable guideway members to facilitate cutting the sheet material.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2001Publication date: February 21, 2002Inventor: Thomas Zscheile

Patent number: 4878409Abstract: An apparatus for cutting circular arcs or holes in a picture mat includes a flat base upon which the mat rests and a platform provided above the base . A disc member is suitably mounted for rotation adjacent the platform about a center axis. A crank mechanism having a axle extending perpendicularly through the disc member and a mounting arm attached to an extending perpendicular arm from the end of the axle are provided on the disc member. This crank mechanism is slidably mounted to the disc member. A cutting blade is then adjustable mounted along the mounting arm and at an angle to the mat. The circles or arcs are cut in the mat by rotation of the crank mechanism--at a location determined by the position of the crank mechanism and of the disc member, and with a diameter determined by the position of the cutting blade relative to the mounting arm.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1988Date of Patent: November 7, 1989Inventor: Charles H. Carithers, Jr.

Patent number: 4757977Abstract: An orbital pipe machine guiding system to guide the machine around the circumference of a pipe has a link chain having first and second ends and a length equal to at least the circumference of the pipe and has means to attach the link chain to itself around and against the pipe in a circle perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pipe. At least one wheel is operatively connected to the machine, such that when the wheel is positioned for revolving engagement with the link chain, the machine will be guided in the circle defined by the link chain. In one embodiment, the wheel has a continuous slot formed therein extending radially inward from the periphery thereof, and the inside surfaces of the slot slidingly engage the link chain. Any one link chain may be used for several pipe sizes and the fastening arrangement of the link chain is such that surplus chain overlaps a portion of the chain lying against the pipe. The slot in the wheel extends far enough to accommodate such overlap.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1987Date of Patent: July 19, 1988Inventor: Adrian H. Krieg
