Patent number: 5332462Abstract: An apparatus for assembling a fiberglass reinforced grating from preformed bearing bars and cross bars includes an elongated open frame table having a plurality of rollers in side-by-side fashion with their axes transverse to the longitudinal axis of the table and supporting a set of upwardly upright transversely spaced bearing bars on the peripheries of the rollers. A loading rack formed of vertically upright transversely spaced spacing and alignment pins controls the lateral spacing of the bearing bars. A raisable stop upstream of a grooving station aligns the ends of the bearing bars. A vertically shiftable hold press hold down bar operates alternately with a vertically shiftable car press hold down bar and the car press is incremented which frictionally presses the bearing bars against the tabletop rollers to increment the set of bearing bars upon release of the hold press hold down bar.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1992Date of Patent: July 26, 1994Inventor: Robert E. Multiple saw blade adjustable dado cutter assembly including a cam assembly and nestable dado blades
Patent number: 5309962Abstract: A multiple saw blade adjustable dado cutter assembly. The cutter can be used with a table saw or a radial arm saw, for example, to make dado cuts in board lumber. A pair of cooperating cams, each connected to a saw blade, can be adjusted to make a dado cut of a desired width. If the desired dado width is wider than the two blade configuration can cut, a center cam attached to another blade can be inserted between the pair of cooperating cams. With the three blade configuration, the three cams cooperate to allow the three blades to be spaced for the desired width of cut. In both configurations and at any spacing width, the two or three blades employed remain in a generally parallel alignment and transverse to the axis of the arbor on which the assembly is secured. To permit the blades to function with this geometrical relationship and to be adjustable, not all of the blade teeth lie in the same plane. The sequentially operating three or more cam assembly has uses beyond dado cutting.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1993Date of Patent: May 10, 1994Assignee: Vermont American CorporationInventors: Wilfred M. Patent number: 5302228Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method of fabricating tank wrap of desired thickness having fibers oriented generally in the thickness direction from lengths of insulation material having fibers oriented generally in the length direction. The method comprises several sequential steps. The first step is positioning the lengths of insulation material lengthwise along a first movable track conveyor, such that the fibers are oriented generally parallel to the direction of conveyance as the lengths progress downstream in a longitudinal direction along the conveyor. Second step is severing the insulation material completely across the length, at intervals equal to the desired thickness of the tank wrap to be fabricated. Next the cut lengths of insulation material are positioned lengthwise across a second movable track conveyor such that the fibers are now oriented generally perpendicular to the direction of conveyance, and in an abutting relationship.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1992Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Inventor: David Holland

Patent number: 5215516Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for preparing box blanks of corrugated board which include feeding the blanks of corrugated board in succession along a feed path and in a direction parallel to opposite edges of the blanks. The blank is folded to form a flat tube prior to its formation into a box. The opposite edges of the folded blank overlap and are reduced in thickness in the areas in which the overlap occurs. Cutting means adjacent to the feed path removes material from opposite faces of the respective edges. The resulting flaps overlap with an unreduced portion of the board of the finished box.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1992Date of Patent: June 1, 1993Assignee: The Langston Machine Company LimitedInventor: Colin Stutt

Patent number: 4481875Abstract: Here is disclosed a bulb peeling apparatus wherein a means of incising grooves on the outer peripheral surface skins of bulbs while rotating the bulbs is arranged in the course of a bulb conveying means and a compressed air blowing means is arranged further in the rear of the groove incising means so as to peel off the surface skins. It is positive to manually peel off surface skins of bulbs. However, in order to peel off the surface skins of a large volume of bulbs, the rise of the labor and production costs will be inevitable and a mechanical means will have to be naturally resorted to.In the bulb peeling apparatus of the present invention, a means of forming incised grooves on the outer peripheral surface skins of bulbs while rotating the bulbs is provided in the course of a bulb conveying means so as to peel off the surface skins of a large volume of bulbs.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1982Date of Patent: November 13, 1984Assignee: M.G.I. Patent number: 4372174Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for sampling a frozen core of tar sand. The frozen core is first cut transversely along its length to form a pair of slabs of semi-circular cross-section. A longitudinal sample portion of substantially triangular cross-section is then cut from the central portion of the still frozen slab. The triangular sample portion is ground in a cryogenic grinder to produce a finely divided, substantially homogeneous material from which small representative sub-samples may be obtained. The triangular sample portion is cut from the slab by a pair of angularly disposed circular saws carried along the length of the slab. The slab is supported and held by cradle means which fix the flat face of the slab in a predetermined plane. The longitudinal sample portion thus formed has a triangular cross-section of substantially constant cross-sectional area.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1981Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignees: Petro-Canada Exploration Inc., Her Majesty the Queen in right of the Province of Alberta, Government of the Province of Alberta, Department of Energy and Natural Resources, Alberta Syncrude Equity, PanCanadian Petroleum Limited, Esso Resources Canada Ltd., Canada-Cities Service, Ltd., Gulf Canada Limited, Alberta Energy Company Ltd., Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas Company Limited, Petrofina Canada Inc.Inventors: Lubomyr M.
