A dispensing chute located below the dispensing nip includes a lower shelf configured to direct web forwardly toward the front portion of a dispenser. The gear rack is preferably an internal gear rack integrally formed with a unitary press bar assembly member. The dispensing chute is configured such that an angle between a cutting-blade and the outer lip of the shelf makes an angle with a vertical of at least about 25°.

The recovered length is predicted based at least in part on the wound off tension and in response to the predicted recovered length, at least one of the following is controlled: 1) the speed at which the web is delivered to the processing station, 2) the tension in the continuous web as it is delivered to the processing station, and 3) the length of the discrete segment at the processing station.

A second shaft is pivotally mounted in the endplates, and is spaced parallel with the first shaft. A dovetail bar is fixedly joined to the second shaft parallel therewith. And, a row of blade holders are mounted along the dovetail bar, with each holder including a second circular blade aligned with a corresponding one of the first blades for cutting in shear a web unwound from the mill roll. The cartridge may be quickly replaced in the slitting machine for each production run thereof for alignment with cores on a corresponding arbor.

    Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing and advancing sheet material is provided. The dispenser includes a frame and a drive roller rotationally mounted to the frame. The drive roller is configured for engagement with sheet material so that rotation of the drive roller causes movement of the sheet material. A segmented gear with first and second drive segments is mounted to the frame and is in communication with the drive roller. A spring is included and is in communication with the segmented gear. The spring is configured so that rotation of the segmented gear causes the spring to store potential energy. Release of potential energy in the spring causes the segmented gear to rotate. A cutting blade is provided and is configured for cutting the sheet material in order to release potential energy. The dispenser allows for a piece of sheet material to be dispensed therefrom and subsequently presents the user with a new piece of sheet material for future removal.

As a result, the movable clamp block and the stationary clamp block can clamp between them the rolled curtain cloth or folded-up curtain cloth. The cloth is vertically inserted by reversing the flat surface and the curved surface of the stationary clamp block. The motor can drive the knife to shift towards the curtain cloth and cut it, so that the cutter is able to cut either rolled or folded-up curtain cloth into multiple curtain pieces.

Two parallel rotary knives move together across the insulation on the cutting surface. One knife cuts through both the fiber and foil. The other knife simultaneously makes a parallel cut 1.5 inches from the first, through the fiber but not the foil, so that the fiber between the two cuts can be removed from the foil. The foil from which the fiber has been removed, can then be overlapped onto the foil of another piece of insulation to join the two pieces.

According to the invention, the web (1) is cut by a blade (30) with a cutting edge transverse to the web transfer direction; the blade moves between a rearward position and a forward position; in the forward position, the cutting edge is substantially parallel to an axis of the roll (7) receiving the web, and the blade is substantially tangent to a surface of the roll. For cutting the web, the blade is moved from its rearward position to its forward position, so that its speed at the time it engages with said web is at least substantially equal to the speed of the web. This ensures a clean and clear cut of the web. At the same time, it ensures that the leading edge of the web is smoothly and evenly placed on the roll, without any creasing nor folding of the web.

In preferred embodiments, a jet of air or other gas may be used to ease the insertion of the flat blade, or a gripping device which pinches the surface of the roll between opposed friction pads creates an arch in the surface of the roll through which the blade is inserted. The device is particularly suitable for use in cigarette making machines which require undamaged paper feeds.

A first pulley is associated through a drive belt with the drum and tensioning device before the paper is cut, and a second pulley is arranged so as to come into contact with the rear of the reel of material.
