Abstract: A dual foot pedal system operates on a bass drum with a beat having a different rhythm. The first foot pedal operates on the drum by a direct transmission from the pedal to the surface of the drum. The second foot pedal has a mechanism thereon that changes the relative position of the travel between the cantilevered hammer heads to obtain a difference of a beat on the drum. The difference is achieved by a driven disc which is operated by the second foot pedal stepped upon by the individual drummer. There is a floating disc adjacent to the driven disc adjustably connected to the driven disc which changes the length of time of the second cantilevered hammer head to travel to an impact on the drum relative to the impact obtained by the first foot pedal.

  • Patent number: 6903257
Abstract: An enhanced bass drum pedal is provided with an eccentricity-adjustable cam system comprising a cam core mounted on a rotating shaft, a cam member rotatably connected to the cam core by a first pin, a positioning member rotatably connected to the cam member by a second pin, and a set screw. The positioning member is fastened onto the cam core by the set screw at a selected position of the positioning member to adjust the eccentricity of the cam system relative to the axis of rotation. As a result, a user can readily alter the impact force acted on a drum head and the restoring force applied to the foot board thereby tuning the bass drum pedal to suit the user's playing style and ability.

Abstract: Vibrating musical devices including a motorized drumstick that can generate and/or distort sound when placed into contact with a surface. For example, the motorized drumstick can generate a “buzz roll” on a drum or other resonating surface. The drumstick includes a rod that is attached to a handle. Located within the handle is a motor that can create an oscillating movement of the rod. The oscillating movement may be induced by an off-center weight that is attached to the motor. The motor and weight may be incorporated into other musical devices.

Abstract: An electronic pad generates a sound imitating a tone generated during a musical performance by an acoustic percussion instrument. In some examples, an electronic hi-hat cymbal imitates the sound created by an acoustic hi-hat cymbal without having to correct for uneven detection of striking sensitivity. The electronic pad includes a striking sensor, a striking surface, and a bowl-shaped frame that is curved such that the sensor detects vibration waveform data according to the striking force of a strike against the striking surface.
