Abstract: In general, the present invention relates to a method and system for synthesizing artificial reverberation using modal analysis of a room or resonating object. In one embodiment of the inventive system, a collection of resonant filters is employed, each driven by the source signal, and their outputs summed. With filter resonance frequencies and dampings tuned to the modal frequencies and decay times of the acoustic space or resonating object being simulated, and filter gains set according to the source and listener positions within the space or object, any number of acoustic spaces and resonant objects may be simulated.
Abstract: An electronic signal processor for processing signals includes a complex first filter, one or more gain stages and a second filter. The first filter is characterized by a frequency response curve that includes multiple corner frequencies, with some corner frequencies being user selectable. The first filter also has at least two user-preset gain levels which may be alternately selected by a switch. Lower frequency signals are processed by the first filter with at least 12 db/octave slope, and preferably with 18 db/octave slope to minimize intermodulation distortion products by subsequent amplification in the gain stages. A second filter provides further filtering and amplitude control. The signal processor is particularly suited for processing audio frequency signals.
Abstract: An electronic music system adapted to generate tone waves of different pitch, amplitude and duration which, when reproduced, create musical tones whose expressive qualities emulate the expressive quality of natural tones producible by acoustic instruments or the human voice. The system includes a tone wave generator, the carrier of which is frequency modulated by an asymmetrical wave whose major component is a sinusoidal wave and whose minor component superimposed on the sinusoidal wave is the second harmonic of that wave. The frequency of the sinusoidal wave is such that as the carrier is frequency-modulated, its frequency is periodically varied above and below its normal value so that the resultant tone exhibits a vibrato effect. And the carrier is at the same time amplitude modulated so that it is periodically varied in amplitude to impart to the resultant tone a tremolo effect whereby the tone yielded by the system emulates a natural tone.
Abstract: A preamplifier device employing electron tubes wherein the preamplifier has tremolo/vibrato circuits independent from reverb circuits allowing continuously variable control of either tremolo or vibrato effects simultaneous with continuously variable control of the reverb effect. A mixer control for controlling the level of reverb and a tone control is provided. Connections are provided for external switches used to disable any one of the above effects.
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument for causing a tone generator to generate a musical tone corresponding to a musical performance while controlling an envelope by operation of a pedal. An operated-amount signal generator is provided for detecting an operated amount of the pedal and for generating an operated-amount signal, and an effect adding unit is provided for controlling parameters for effect addition so as to add an effect to a musical tone generated from the musical tone generator in accordance with the operated-amount signal from the operated-amount signal generator. The operated-amount signal from the operated-amount signal generator is changed by the operation of the pedal, and an effect-adding parameter in the effect adding unit is changed accordingly, to thereby add an effect to the generated musical tone.
