Cartridge Feeding Patents (Class 89/33.01)
  • Publication number: 20020134225
Abstract: A dual action retention pawl for securing ammunition in a breech loading gun having a bore along a longitudinal axis of a barrel of the gun and a breech opening with a moveable breech block at a rear of the bore. The dual action retention pawl includes a base, a pawl arm, and an activation arm operably attached to the base. The pawl arm pivots to a retracted position in response to ammunition engaging the activation arm when the ammunition is loaded into the breech opening and returns to a retention position once the ammunition is loaded to retain the ammunition within the barrel of the gun. The pawl arm pivots to the retracted position in response to the breech block engaging the activation arm when the breech block is moved to close the breech opening.

  • Patent number: 6378752
Abstract: A powder actuated tool for driving a faster with combustion gases has an automatic reset. To use the device, the operator presses the device to the articles to be fastened, which requires overcoming the force of a spring in order to bring the working end where the fastener exits closer to the piston that rams the fastener. When the device is fired, a charge releases combustion gases into a chamber, whereupon a piston in the chamber is rammed into the head of a fastener to be driven. After the device is fired, the operator releases the pressure, whereupon the spring releases the energy imparted by the operator and resets the device.

  • Patent number: 6343535
Abstract: A combustion activated tool includes a housing having a longitudinal bore that extends and connects with a vertical bore, a piston and piston guide disposed within the longitudinal bore and moveable axially therein, and an advance lever having a reset end and an advancing end, the lever disposed on a pivot skew to the axis of the longitudinal bore, the lever having an axis essentially parallel with the longitudinal bore, the advancing end of the lever attached on an arm of the lever angled to one side of the axis of the longitudinal bore and effective to engage teeth on the side of a strip of charges disposed in the vertical bore, the reset end of the lever being disposed on the same side of the axis of the longitudinal bore engaging the piston guide along an edge of the lever.

  • Patent number: 6339983
Abstract: In connection with this ammunition-feeding device, an axial transport device (19) with a conveyor chain (34) is provided between a conveyor (6) and a transfer station (20) for transferring cartridges (2) to a revolver drum (25) of a revolver cannon, by means of which the cartridges (2) are displaced in their longitudinal direction during transport vertically in respect to the movement direction of the conveyor chain (34). A buffer shaft (35) is provided for driving the conveyor chain (34), wherein the drive by means of the buffer shaft (35) takes place in such a way that, prior to being transferred to the transfer station (20), the cartridges (2) are brought into a buffer position.

  • Patent number: 6279450
Abstract: A weapon includes a weapon barrel having a longitudinal axis and a magazine positioned behind the weapon barrel and formed of two spaced, facing partial magazines situated on either side of the barrel axis. Each partial magazine has at least one tier accommodating a series of ammunition in a side-by-side relationship. A loading tray is positioned behind the weapon barrel and between the partial magazines for receiving ammunition therefrom to be loaded by the loading tray into the weapon barrel. A displacing mechanism shifts the ammunition in each tier onto the loading tray. At least two spaced guide rails are positioned in each tier and extend perpendicularly to the barrel axis. Each ammunition has a frontal region, a rearward region and at least two guide portions releasably secured to the ammunition in the frontal and rearward regions, respectively. The guide portions engage into respective guide rails.
