The output slot has a front portion for outputting the flexible substrate and a rear portion for receiving the flexible substrate from a transport. A guideway diverges away from the rear portion of the output slot toward the transport to provide a substrate receiving opening. When in use, the bezel body is mounted adjacent the transport with a cavity between the transport and the rear portion of the output slot. The guideway is adapted to catch a leading edge of the substrate exiting the transport, and guide the leading edge to the output slot. In the event the output slot is blocked, the guideway will guide at least a portion of the substrate into the cavity, thereby preventing a jam.

After a predetermined time period, the belt (28) is moved into contact with the next sheet of the stack (18) to be fed and the process is repeated until the desired number of sheets have been fed from the stack (18). The belt (28) is driven so that it rotates continuously during the pick operation and is brought to rest on retraction of the belt (28) after the final sheet has been picked from the stack (18).

The invention is characterized by depositing a separating sheet (25) in the purge bin (84) subsequent to each purge operation for the purpose of separating the bank note or notes (24) deposited in the purge bin (84) in one purge operation from the note or notes (24) deposited in the purge bin (84) in the next purge operation.

    Abstract: Each of multiple cash cassettes is provided with a light-emission type push-button switch capable of indicating the operation state of the cash cassette and the need to exchange the cash cassette. By depressing the push-button switch, the associated cash cassette is separated from the cash transaction operation under the control of a CPU. When a customer is in front of a transaction apparatus or while a cash transaction is being carried out, a lamp of the push-button switch associated with the cash cassette, from which banknotes may be taken out in a subsequent dispensing operation, is flickered at a cycle of 1 second. When banknotes are replenished in the cash cassette, the banknotes can be replenished without suspending the operation of the apparatus, and the operation efficiency and operability of the apparatus can be enhanced.

The housing also has a front panel having an opening for the withdrawal of notes by a user of the ATM, the opening having a door which pivots about an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the slot from a first position in which the front opening is closed to a second position in which the front opening is open for the withdrawal of dispensed banknotes. The door includes a pair of flanges which block access to the slot from the front opening when the door is open or partially open.

    Abstract: It is judged whether or not a bill, inserted from a bill inlet, is genuine, and then the bill is passed to a bill stacking position through a bill passage only when it is judged that the bill is genuine. The bill is pushed into an accumulating box by rotating an eccentric cam of a stacker unit at the bill stacking position when the a shutter switch becomes on after the bill passes a shutter plate and a pull out preventing lever. The eccentric cam is held at a top dead center. A bill pull out preventing apparatus includes a pull out preventing lever having a distal end portion. The distal end portion is curved to define a hook groove. The lever is arranged so that the distal end portion is directed away from the insert slot. The lever is spring biased to swing about a pivot to block the bill passage.
