Cylinders Or Pistons Pinned To Common Element Patents (Class 91/495)
  • Publication number: 20130205987
Abstract: A hydraulic axial piston machine includes a drive shaft, a swashplate pivotable about a pivot axis to change inclination relative to a drive shaft axis, and an actuating piston approximately parallel to the drive shaft axis. The actuating piston has a first end which engages and adjusts the swashplate and a second end which bounds an actuating chamber. Fluid flows to the actuating chamber to pivot the swashplate one direction and is forced out of the actuating chamber when the swashplate pivots the other direction. A return element on the actuating piston incorporates a position of the actuating piston and thus the inclination of the swashplate into a control valve. The return element is positioned such that its longitudinal axis and an actuating piston longitudinal axis span a plane that differs from a plane perpendicular to the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 4874297
Abstract: In a valveless pump, a pump body, having a central chamber, is provided with a radially disposed array of pistons movable toward and away from the axis of the pump body. Cylinder heads cooperate with the pistons in controlling fluid movement through the pump. A drive shaft extends axially into the pump chamber and includes a surrounding eccentric cam. A linkage assembly pivotally connects the inward end portions of the several pistons with a tether ring surrounding the drive shaft for maintaining the pistons in contact with the eccentric cam and reciprocating the pistons in sequence for moving fluid through conduits sequentially communicating with the several piston cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4864916
Abstract: A hydraulic pump/motor in which working piston elements are arranged for radial reciprocation. A cam is arranged eccentrically to a rotor which carries the pistons. Fluid cavities are provided in feet on the pistons, in the faces of a polygon to which the feet are attacahed, and in bearing pads in the outer ends of the cylinders to provide hydrostatic balancing. The pistons are hollow and are equipped with check valves to prevent centrifugal force from expelling fluid from the polygon and foot cavities. The cam includes mating spherical surfaces which compensate for bending forces applied to the cam. An improved mechanism for adjusting the cam position uses inherent forces to eliminate the need for a power assist device for cam adjustment. Port plates on opposite sides of the rotor provide inlet to the unit near the axis of the unit and outlet near the outer edge to alleviate stresses and increase efficiency.

  • Patent number: 3998133
Abstract: A radial type hydraulic pump motor according to the present invention has pistons, each of which is formed at its head portion with a concave or convex spherical surface. Engaged spherically with said spherical surface head portion is a piston shoe whose outer planar portion is slidably engaged with the inner planar portion of a crescent-shaped segment arcuately engaged with the inner peripheral surface of a drum case. Said piston shoe is formed at its outer planar portion with a hydraulic recess equal to the effective pressure receiving area of piston in area. Said recess is maintained in communication with a cylinder chamber. Accordingly, said spherically engaging portion and arcuately engaging portion make little sliding movements and only the outer planar portion of piston shoe and the inner planar portion of segment mutually make sliding movement under little contact pressure, thereby causing little wear to said engaging portion and sliding portion.
