Stroke Control Patents (Class 91/504)
  • Patent number: 4252508
Abstract: A pump unit includes two main variable displacement axial piston pumps with coaxial input drive members. A power input shaft to the pump unit is mounted for rotation in the housing along an axis perpendicular to the common axis of the main pump drive members. A first bevel gear mounted within the housing on the power input shaft meshes with a second bevel gear which is rotatable about the common axis of the main pump drive members and drivingly connected with at least one of the pump drive members. The housing has at least one flange defining a surface on which an auxiliary pump may be mounted. The auxiliary pump has an input shaft which extends through an opening in the housing defined by the flange. A third bevel gear is mounted on the auxiliary pump input shaft from inside the housing and meshes with the second bevel gear.

  • Patent number: 4223594
Abstract: A hydraulic motor having a plurality of cylindrical pistons each of which is slidably mounted in a fluid tight manner along a respective cylindrical bore provided axially through a rotor keyed to a central rotatable shaft, each said piston being thrusted by a pressurized fluid with one end into contact with a flat surface of a toroidal member mounted to rotate about its own axis which is arranged at an angle to the axis of said central shaft, and rotation of said rotor causing each said piston to rotate about its own axis within the respective bore owing to said one end of each piston being shaped as a spherical bowl, the diameter of which is at least 0.7 times the radius of the respective piston divided by the sine of said angle.

  • Patent number: 4185508
Abstract: A motion change transmission includes a rotor rotationally supported by and/or within a framing assemblage or housing. The face of the rotor is provided with alternating, axially and circumferentially extending hills and valleys. At least one rod is disposed transversely relative to the rotor and is pivotal in a given plane relative to the assemblage or housing and is operatively engageable with the face of the rotor such that when one end of the rod traverses a rotor hill, the other end of the rod simultaneously traverses a rotor valley. Either or both ends of the rod are connected to reciprocating members. When means are provided for driving the reciprocating members, the transmission provides for the conversion of reciprocating motion to rotary motion. And when means are provided for driving the rotor, the transmission provides for the conversion of rotary motion to reciprocating motion.

  • Patent number: 4164169
Abstract: An axial-piston machine, such as an axial-piston pump or an axial-piston motor, in which the cylinder drum is in engagement with an intermediate disk which bears, in turn, upon the housing and has a spherically curved surface whose center of curvature is spaced to the side of the axis of rotation of the drum at which the pressure passage communicates with the cylinder drum.

  • Patent number: 4007662
Abstract: An axial piston machine has a control mirror body with a cylinder drum adjustable in both directions from a middle position with zero speed stroke of the pistons. An orifice in a guide surface (which at a given time is connected with a suction duct and a pressure duct) is divided into a pair of orifices connected via connecting ducts with the respective duct. The pair of orifices are symmetrical in the direction of tilt of the mirror member with its middle position in the guide surface. The orifice of each pair which at a given time is located against a momentary tilting direction and not covered by the mirror member is disconnected by a closing device from the associated suction or pressure duct. The constructively possible area of tilt of the mirror member and thereby of the cylinder drum is considerably enlarged. The control mirror member need not cover the entire pressure-side aperture of the guideway in every position of tilt.

  • Patent number: 3998130
Abstract: Fluid motor means having a sectional housing containing a fluid flow passage therebetween is provided. The passage has a cross section which varies in response to load changes, along with means in the passage for varying the flow of pressure fluid to the motor in response to said load changes. Expansion or fluid chambers are preferably used to couple input and output members in a manner responsive to torque changes.

  • Patent number: 3935796
Abstract: A hydraulic pumping apparatus including a cylindrical housing member having an open upper end closed by a cover held in place by a snap ring. A rotor is rotatably supported in the housing and in turn supports a plurality of pistons which are parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor. The novelty resides in the swash plate assembly which includes an off-the-shelf bearing comprising two parallel plates with all bearings sandwiched therebetween with one of the plates engaging the pistons. An integral plastic ring member is disposed within the annular opening of the upper thrust plate of the bearing assembly and includes trunnions extending laterally in opposite directions for disposition in grooves in the cover member for changing the angle of inclination of the bearing assembly. An adjustment member extends through the cover for engaging the upper thrust plate of the bearing assembly to change the angle of the inclination thereof.

  • Patent number: 3933083
Abstract: A variable displacement cylindrical pump is provided having a sectional housing and a cam plate having trunnions and trunnion bearings. A first generally annular pump housing section is provided having oppositely disposed recesses formed in its inner periphery that have semi-circular portions at one end for axially receiving the cam plate trunnions and trunnion bearings. The trunnion bearings are secured in their recesses by the assembly of a second adjoining pump section housing and by biasing springs disposed between the trunnion bearings and the second housing section.
