Abstract: An improvement of an output shaft of a booster is disclosed. An output shaft 23 is formed by a push rod 24 and an adjusting screw 25. The push rod 24 is formed with an axial bore 26 in its distal end, the axial bore including a portion 26b of a reduced diameter which is less than an outer diameter of a threaded section 25C of the adjusting screw. The threaded portion is formed as a self-tapping screw. The adjusting screw includes a guide 25D at a location which is initially inserted into the axial bore before the threaded portion is inserted into the threaded portion. The guide comprises a plurality of annular projections 27 having an outer diameter which is substantially equal to the inner diameter of the axial bore. With this construction, when the guide 25D is fitted into the portion 26b of the axial bore 26 which has a reduced diameter, the axis of the adjusting screw 25 may be brought into alignment with the axis of the push rode 24.

The rollers of an external device are engaged on the exterior surface of the flexible hose and are located adjacent to the midsection of the hose piston. Abstract: A linear drive comprising a drive member adapted to be reciprocated axially in a housing between two end positions. Opposite to the former there is a wall on at least one axial side. There are means to reduce the impact in the end position, such means having an annular lip. The lip is arranged on the drive member or on the wall and respectively faces the wall or the housing. The lip defines a damping space which is open on an impact side. If the drive member approaches one end position thereof, the damping space is occluded and reduced in volume so that some trapped fluid will escape via a relief opening so that there is a braked part of the stroke. Using simple means it is therefore possible to provide an extremely efficient fluid damping at the end position.

In such arrangement, the power cylinder may be designed comprising a piston or diaphragm, and for double action, i.e., working in either direction or working solely unidirectional while being reset by means of spring action.

  • Patent number: 5102094
Abstract: An improved vacuumizer valve assembly is provided which permits precise, infinite valve adjustment from outside of a vacuumizer apparatus, thus eliminating the need to open the vacuumizer chamber during adjustment procedures. The valve assembly of the invention preferably includes a piston and cylinder assembly operated valve member, with a threadably shiftable adjustment stop coupled with the piston and cylinder assembly. During adjustment procedures, the stop is shifted as necessary to thereby alter the stroke length of the valve assembly and thereby the maximum valve clearance achieved when the valve is opened.

  • Patent number: 5086864
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a device that cuts off pressure in the final positions of the steering movement in an auxiliary-power steering device. In steering devices that have movable working pistons in the steering gear housing, this cut-off device is installed in a through drilled hole in the working piston. A by-pass valve that is activated by a push rod touching the wall of the housing is provided for every direction of steering. To avoid time-consuming adjustment work on the by-pass valves the walls contain bushings located opposite the push rods that are automatically pushed into the final positions corresponding to the wheel steering angle after the auxiliary-power steering device is installed in the vehicle. That happens as a result of rotating, first without auxiliary power, against the wheel limit stops, with the front axle jacked up, after the preliminary installation of the bushings in their drilled holes.

Abstract: A linear drive mechanism has a combination of a drive cylinder, a drive rod stroke-limiting element, position sensors, a solenoid, and a terminal strip, together with internal wirings and hose connections. The drive mechanism can be arbitrarily arranged quickly and simply at a processing apparatus or assembly structure as a unit, and only a cable having the external signal and control lines as well as a supply line for the pressure agent need be connected thereto. No disturbing and involved wirings and position sensing elements therefore need be arranged in the actual tool region.

Two of the pistons are in-line along a common axis, and the cylinders therefor are in confronting relationship. The third cylinder lies along an axis which traverses the two-piston axis. All three pistons are reciprocated by two connecting rods, in that the in-line pistons are joined by tie rods. Both connecting rods are coupled to the single crank of a crankshaft which is journalled in a crankcase, and all three cylinders are removably bolted to the crankcase.

Abstract: A brake adjuster wherein a thrust block is axially slidable in a cylinder bore and rotatably connected to one of two screw threaded adjuster members which are themselves interconnected by a self-sustaining thread. In use a power spring acts on the thrust block to move it axially within the cylinder bore to apply pressure to a friction pad via the adjuster members. The brake may be released by applying hydraulic pressure to the thrust block, at which time one adjuster member is rotated via a clutch, when a predetermined clearance has been taken up, relative to the other to adjust for pad wear. No relative adjustment occurs during application of the brake under the action of the power spring.

  • Patent number: 4815293
Abstract: A vacuum brake booster and hydraulic master cylinder arrangement with lost-motion-eliminating abutment between the vacuum booster push rod and the master cylinder piston. The vacuum booster has an input rod, a valve, a power piston, and an adjustable length output push rod. A first spring biases the power piston to the rest position but exerts a force less than the counter-force exerted by atmospheric pressure on the input side portion of the power piston extending from the booster housing. A second spring urges the cylinder piston into contact with the push rod. This second spring is stronger than the first spring so that when vacuum is applied in the rest position the action of the two springs exerts a net force sufficient to balance the force exerted on the power piston exterior by atmospheric pressure and also maintains the push rod in constant contact with the master cylinder piston to minimize the overall actuation lost stroke of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4795128
Abstract: A kelly cock valve for a drill rig uses a sliding gate to open and close the flow passage through the drill string. The valve has a body with a longitudinal passage through it. The gate is mounted in the body perpendicular to the flow passage. Pushrods extend from each end of the gate out through bonnets mounted to the body of the valve. The fluid cylinders are mounted on each side of the gate. Each fluid cylinder has a piston with a piston rod extending in opposite directions. The piston rods are connected to a beam that also connects to the pushrod. Hydraulic passages supply fluid to the cylinders to stroke the piston and thus move the gate valve between open and closed positions.
