Patent number: 4098172Abstract: A self-aligning and end fixity connector for connecting a hydraulic cylinder piston rod to its respective boom section in a multi-section telescopic boom assembly wherein the piston rod end is rigidly and fixedly secured to a structural part of one boom section. The cylinder barrel has a lost motion connection with a next adjacent boom section whereby slight movement in a vertical direction can occur between the cylinder barrel and said next adjacent boom section. The arrangement significantly increases the column loading capacity of telescoping crane boom hydraulic cylinders and reduces significantly the tendency for cylinders to bind with their piston rods due to inevitable cocking of boom sections.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1977Date of Patent: July 4, 1978Assignee: Walter Kidde & Company, Inc.Inventors: William Enterline Wright, Huber Daniel Bock, Jr.

Pivotal support for a fluid actuated cylinder with means for communicating pressurized fluid thereto
Patent number: 4085660Abstract: A pair of sleeves are fixedly mounted in axial alignment on opposite sides of the power plant enclosure of a bulldozer. Rotatably received in each sleeve is a trunnion having at its outer end a yoke holding one of the blade lift cylinders of the bulldozer. The pair of opposed fluid chambers in each lift cylinder are in communication with a pressurized fluid source and drain via passages formed in the respective trunnion and sleeve. For holding the trunnions in position in the respective sleeves against the axial thrust which may be applied thereto in both directions, a stop disc is bolted to the inner end of each trunnion for engagement with one of the sleeves and with a cover bolted to the inner end of each sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1976Date of Patent: April 25, 1978Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Komatsu SeisakushoInventors: Sumio Yoshinouchi, Hiroki Tanaka -

Patent number: 3967539Abstract: An adjustable stroke length fluid cylinder used to move agricultural or industrial machinery is disclosed. The cylinder is an enclosed unit having a movable piston therein which is attached to an axial piston rod secured to the load. A fluid valve directs the application of pressure fluid to either side of the piston to extend or retract the piston rod. One end of the cylinder houses a head unit containing an internal valve which is operated by a stop member positioned on the piston rod. The internal valve is effective to stop retraction of the piston rod when actuated by the stop member by blocking fluid flow through the cylinder. Subsequent extension of the piston rod automatically returns the internal valve to its open position.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1974Date of Patent: July 6, 1976Inventor: Robert E. Williamson
