Patent number: 9005340Abstract: A fiber bed assembly used to remove aerosols and/or wetted soluble solids from a moving gas stream includes a fiber bed support and a fiber bed supported by the fiber bed support so that the gas stream passes through the fiber bed moving from an upstream space to a downstream space with respect to the fiber bed. A re-entrainment control device is located within a downstream space defined by the fiber bed so that at least a portion of the gas stream passes through the re-entrainment control device. The re-entrainment control device is shaped to change the direction of the average flow path of the gas stream as the gas stream passes through the re-entrainment control device so as to cause aerosols and/or wettable solids contained therein to be separated from the gas stream by inertial force. A re-entrainment control device and method of use are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2012Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: MECS, Inc.Inventors: Douglas E. Azwell, Frederick L. Mueller, Steven A. Ziebold, Julie Marie Wagner

Patent number: 8944420Abstract: The present invention is a container having a diptube inlet, at least one baffle disc positioned between the outlet of the diptube and the outlet of the container to provide a narrow annular space between the baffle disc and the sidewall of the container to prevent liquid droplets from entering the outlet to the container and the inner surface of the container sidewall and an annular, radially inward projecting deflector ledge on the sidewall, proximate the baffle disc. The present invention is also a process of delivering a chemical precursor from a container having the above structure. Liquid and vapor delivery are both contemplated.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2012Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.Inventors: Charles Michael Birtcher, Thomas Andrew Steidl

Patent number: 8758466Abstract: A device in a pipe has an annular partition spaced radially inwardly from an inner face of the pipe and defining therewith an upstream annular space opening axially upstream of the direction into the pipe such that a secondary gas stream is separated from the primary gas stream along with a liquid film on the inner surface, a downstream annular space larger than the upstream annular space, and a droplet separator opening into the downstream annular space. The separator has a plurality of lamellas, a condensate sump, and a drain, so that the edge film intercepted by the partition into the upstream space passes therefrom into the downstream space and therefrom through the separator such that the liquid of the film flows into the sump and out the drain and the secondary gas stream passes out of the separator.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2011Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: Munters Euroform GmbHInventor: Matthias Jansen

Patent number: 8062610Abstract: For analysis of small quatities of target analytes in an environment, the gas flow can be delivered to a suitably fast analyzer and their concentration determined in a time period whose duration is dependent on the analyte, its concentration and the phase separation properties. A device having a sorbent bed that is essentially concentric with a passage way containing thermal fluid is used to concentrate the target analyte.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2006Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Assignee: The United States of America as represented by Environmental Protection AgencyInventors: Brian K. Patent number: 7857879Abstract: The droplet separator includes a vortex generating apparatus in a flow passage for directing a droplet-carrying gas in the direction of at least one separator element arranged concentrically about the flow passage. The separator element includes multiple grid-like structures for separating the droplets from the gas flow.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2007Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: Sulzer Chemtech AGInventor: Daniel Egger

Publication number: 20100147148Abstract: A system for capturing carbon dioxide is provided including a feed line transporting an exhaust gas, a first separator, a first compressor, a first membrane, a first ejector, a second separator, a second compressor, and a carbon dioxide storage tank. The first membrane is configured to filter the exhaust gas into a retentate stream of exhaust gas and a permeate stream of exhaust gas. The permeate stream of exhaust gas includes a larger amount of carbon dioxide than the retentate stream. The first ejector is configured to compress the permeate stream. The second compressor is configured to further compress the exhaust gas received from the second separator. The carbon dioxide storage tank is configured to receive the exhaust gas from the second compressor. A second membrane can be on the retentate stream of the first membrane, where a second ejector is on the permeate side of the second membrane.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2008Publication date: June 17, 2010Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventor: Shahryar Rabiei

Patent number: 6117214Abstract: A water trap for a sample gas flow includes a housing 1 fastened to a holder 2. The housing 1 has a tank 3 for receiving liquids and gases. Above the tank 3, the housing 1 contains a first chamber divided by a first hydrophobic membrane 10. The lower divided part 12 of the first chamber is connected to the sample gas flow via the holder 2 on the inlet side and to the gas space in the tank 3 on the outlet side. The upper divided part 11 of the first chamber is connected to a gas analyzer 4 via the holder 2 and is connected to a vacuum. The housing 1 contains a second chamber divided by a second hydrophobic membrane 20. The lower divided part 22 of the second chamber is connected to the gas space in the tank 3 at a point 18 which is located lower in the direction of the liquid level and relative to the entry of the connection line from the first chamber. The upper divided part 21 of the second chamber is connected to a volume flow meter 8 and to the same vacuum.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1999Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Drager Medizintechnik GmbHInventors: Gerd Peter, Thomas Maxeiner
